Songs of Conquest

Mediocre at best of times.

I really wanted to like this game. The pixel art was charming, animations were nice, but the game left a sour taste. Let me start with some positives first: -great art style and animations -decent story at times -lots of abilities and items Now on to the meat here and why I did not like it, and there are plenty of them. -Campaign has these strange difficulty spikes. It starts of easy in Song 1 Mission 1, but then you get absolutely leveled in like Mission 3 or 4. Enemies come at you with full stacks and you barely have enough quality troops. -Lite "woke" moments in the game I did not like personally. Nearly all female commanders. Blacksmith referred to as "her" in game. This is not in your face or anything, but I don't like this in my fantasy games. It's not even done with taste, if you remember queen Meve from Witcher series. She is a badass and that story in Thronebreaker amazing. None of that is shown here. This female protagonist is just great out of the box, no character development...Typical woke writing. -Some absolutely frustrating design decision. You know how in almost every game on the planet your character and troops / abilities are on the left side of the screen ? Well here for some reason, they put it on the right side if you are defending. Totally messes up your orientation. -The fact that you cannot keep your troops from mission to mission is also frustrating beyond words. Even if you end the mission with high power knights, surprise surprise in the next one you start with goddamn peasants while your enemies roam with full epic stacks on the map (Mission 3 or 4 or 5 in Song 1, don't remember exactly In summary, the game is mediocre at best of times. There are much better fantasy games out there that won't make you pull your hair out. Buy only at steep discount if you wish so.

Jagged Alliance 3

Excellent game, loved every moment

I just completed the campaign, around 63 hours in total. I loved the game honestly. In the beginning it starts a bit slow as your squad is not that good, but once they level up and you start recruiting better mercs, you can easily take out 15 or more enemies with a single squad of 6. Once you get to a second squad game really hits off. There is an entire part of the story involving ex-German soldiers that can easily be missed and that's what I really love about this game. Almost nothing is mandatory and there is so much content to explore. The story was also enjoyable, classic 80's movie type of stuff. A bunch of side quests to complete as well. Your squad is interesting enough, they are all colorful characters, you really feel like they have personalities. Occasionally they will get into a discussion with one another which was interesting to watch. All in all, great game, loved every moment of it and I recommend it to everyone.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 - Complete Edition

Masterpiece to be savored

Here I am, 55hrs played at the time of writing this review, just completed Imperium campaign. What can I say, I loved every minute and every second of this game. I loved the first one too, and the second one is even better. Where to even start ? Graphically, game looks good enough. Explosions from ships are amazing and very satisfying. Campaign is interesting and side missions were all very enjoyable for me. Voice acting is really good, Adam Howden (voice actor for Admiral Spire) really gave it all for this role. But where this game shines is the gameplay....Oh man... I love the mechanics of this game so much it's hard to put into words really. Ramming one ship into another is incredibly satisfying , you can hear the clunk of metal as you crash into another ship. Once you master stances, you can pull of amazing stuff on the battlefield. And the torpedoes man , don't get me started on those. You give it max throttle with few ships, aim the torpedoes in slow-mo, release them, do a 180 turn, get back and watch how you wreck even the mightiest of enemy ships. In summary, if you enjoyed the first game, you're gonna love this one. If you like ship combat, you're gonna love this game. For me personally, a MASTERPIECE 10/10. Easy buy even at full price.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Great expansion !

Where do I even start ? I got 236 play hours in this game, got to know it quite well. I enjoyed Phantom Liberty, fun, intriguing , lots of new activities, side quests, gigs. Characters are well written, believable, gameplay really nice, whatever you decide to run with. Hacking is crazy fun, stealth works wonders too... There is only one thing I really did not like - without going into spoiler territory, there is a survival-horror element at some point in the story and I REALLY did not enjoy it. That is of course a personal preference, some people may like it, but I did not. Besides that, expansion is really solid and I do recommend buying it, even at full price. Cheers, chooms

World in Conflict: Complete Edition

A timeless RTS classic

I really enjoyed the game even though it's 16 years old (yeah right ?). I often boot this baby up after work to unwind and just level entire maps. Amazing environment destruction, decent unit roster , although some more unit variety would be great. Missions are decently paced and there is some little story going on there as well. Cutscenes are surprisingly good for a game this old. Overall, a must try for any old RTS fan that enjoys leveling entire maps to the ground.

Baldur's Gate 3

One of the best RPGs ever

Just completed the main story. Clocked in more than 120hrs, with all the side quests and fooling around, sometimes reloading long fights to finish them better. Simply put, game is amazing, works great and you should play it. What else can I say for one of the best RPG's ever made...

Cyberpunk 2077

Loved every minute of it

THE GOOD: Alright, just finished the game and summed up my impressions. As of now I have close to 99 hours put into it and I LOVED IT. Honestly, I loved the side quests, I loved the gigs and main story quests really pack a punch. I would even go far to say that I enjoyed side quests and gigs even more than main quests. Just chilling in the Night City, doing some gigs and blasting gonks, great time. Crafting system is really helpful. Hacking is great, can not get bored of it. Melee is alright, did not go for melee build, but I do enjoy chopping some gonks with mantis blades from time to time. Cyber implants are great, you can get great gameplay variety in there. THE BAD: I had almost no issues with the game (crashed once , some weird vehicle issues when I am driving really fast and collide with something), but other than that, really smooth experience. Driving can be better for sure. Cars really do feel like they are sliding across the surface, instead of gripping. So most of the time I wasn't even driving cars, but Kusanagi bike, great for city traffic and it's really fast. I had some strange issue with Judy's side quests, for some reason they took reallly long time to activate. That's all I can think of. SUMMARY: Cyberpunk 2077 is a great game. I enjoyed every minute of it and I think it's worth a full price at this point. If you can get it at a discount (which do happen from time to time), don't miss that opportunity. Looking forward to expansion packs and hopefully we will see Witcher 3 quality in them. Fingers crossed. Disclaimer: I bought the game at 1.5 update, so my experience reflects the game in that state onwards.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Most immersive experience in years

Just...wow. I've finally gotten around to finishing campaign and with 49 hours sunk into the game I am most impressed. Story is nothing short of amazing, Meve is a lioness of a character. Gameplay is ok, from time to time puzzles can get tedious. I loved building the camp and buying upgrades for the army. Every bought upgrade is reflected in the artwork in your camp, which is a nice touch. Artwork in general is very nice and well designed. I totally recommend this game if you are looking for story driven experience. I'd love to see a sequel to this, maybe this time showing the other side, Nilfgard in it's early years.
