Cyberpunk 2077 got me hooked very bad. I've spent 150 hours in the base game which (according to HLTB) is supposed to take 105 hours to finish if you are a completionist. I've enjoyed every minute of it. After 150 hours gameplay I've started the Phantom Liberty Expansion. It was a whole different experience. Beware, the beginning is quite long so first quests feel more linear than the rest of the game due to the fact that the quests are long but they offer more story and continuity too. But after few quests, the game offers the good old open world again. So the first quests feel a bit different than the base game which is more than welcome for me after 150 hours! So I don't really get some people complaining about the DLC. Also with this DLC CDPR have added an additional addictive mechanics to the game... the Airdrops... I've never invested time in any game to collect stuff just for the sake of collecting, I've always felt it was a waste of time. Somehow Cyberpunk 2077 broke my will, and Phantom Liberty (thanks to Airdrops) made it worse. All in all, I think CDPR absolutely have nailed it with this DLC. Too bad that there will be no other DLCs for Cyberpunk 2077.
It is very surprising for me that this game has so many good reviews... This game is full of bad game design choices and implementation. Here are some examples: Hints are extremely vague and game usually wants you to find some very unintuitive goals without giving you enough information. It feels like playing an old school point and click adventure games where you have to brute force the options to continue... Controls are really bad and especially when you have to climb somewhere, slight changes in camera angle requires you to compensate with big direction changes on the controller. Finding the right amount results in many trial and error and multiple times of falling off and climbing up again. Autosave checkpoints are unreliable, change in scene does not mean that you will start there where you left. All in all this is probably the most frustrating game I've ever played in my life. This is my first Lego * game and it will definitely be the last.
First of all you should definitely ignore the reviews from 2020... That version was definitely not ready for the release... I got this game right after it came out too and seen immersion breaking bugs right at the beginning. I then thought I should really not play the game in its current state and I trust CDPR, they will make this right... Then I've heard about the v2.0 update fixing many issues and got the Phantom Liberty DLC and installed the game again and started playing from the beginning. Damn the game aged like wine! This is the promised version which is worth the hype!!! City feels so alive, there is so much going on, so much to do it felt overwhelming at the beginning. Characters, quests, chrome, vehicles, weapons, everything feels top notch. I sank over 170 hours in Witcher 3 and enjoyed every minute of it, it was my favourite RPG game of all times, but Cyberpunk 2077 took the crown within 60 hours of gameplay. This is honestly the first game I can spend playing 6 hours straight without noticing, insanely addictive and immersive. Even if you are doing some simple like side quest for the NCPD you can deal with our opponents in so many ways, even if the quest itself is nothing detailed, enemy, weapon, quick-hack variations make every encounter unique. Bigger quests are so well written (you would of course expect this from makers of the Witcher) but still I doubt any other big studio can top this game... (looking at you Bethesta, sell Fallout IP to CDPR immediately!)
I remember the first time I've seen this game in 1998. My best friend showed it to me, and I was thinking OMG, such crappy graphics, my eyes bleed when I look at it! Then I managed to look past the graphics and played the game myself. It immediately became the favourite turn based game of all times. Only game I've ever played through 3 times in a row even though every run takes about 40ish hours! This game is so insanely deep I honestly don't know any other tactical turn based strategy game which is comparable to this one. And no other XCOM Title came after this gem was comparable (Xenonauts was ok but XCOM APOC is at another level). The complex dynamics among companies, base building, research, missions.... It is filled up with so much detail! It is so nice to see this gem preserved by GOG! <3
I've bought this game on PS4 and on PC and spent over 300 hours of my life in Witcher 3 universe... It is an exceptional piece of art! Story, world design, graphics, soundtrack, everything is simply top notch!!! I really hope (but doubt) CD Projekt can top this game on the sequel...
