When this came out I played it, but not all the way through, and never have. There are reasons for that, foremost, the leveling in this game is a total mess, enemies will level with you, but in a way that couldn't be more broken, it can lead to the situation, in combination with your skills, that the game is getting harder when progressed further. There were and still are so many broken and not well thought through systems and things in this game. The world is okay, but very, very generic, especially the hell(?) portal stuff "dungeons" are generic, repetitive and boring as hell. The art design is okay, but, oh hell, the character designers must have lived in burgerfaceland, no human looks like that. Then here a some conversation minigames implemented which are getting on my nerves, because they are straight out of design hell and getting boring really quick. As I said, so many broken or not well thought through mechanics in this game, it is a shame. Then there is the horse riding, was bad then, is horrible today. There are some good quests in this game and the game can be, in many places, very atmospheric. But it was a mediocre game back then, aged badly, and is a bad game today. Without really thick nostalgia glasses, stay away from this game. I can say it again and again, even the older Bethesda games are highly overrated, yes Morrowind too.
Back in 2011, I liked Skyrim a lot, I sank many hours in this game, and it was mostly good fun. The world was quite nice designed, and it felt like a sandbox experience, which I like. Especially with the mods, I had tons of fun. However, the roleplay aspect is pretty repetitive and shallow. And the main story line is laughable short. But besides that it was a pretty good experience and I definitely did not regret buying this game on release. But Skyrim aged badly, and I see no reason to buy any other edition, besides big total conversion mods. And I do not recommend buying all this idiotic new versions, it mostly stays the same game. If you haven't played it, you can buy this edition, but as I said it kind of aged badly.
This game, if you can call it that, is broken till beyond. For the last hour I looked around the Internet where I can refund this. Found only scams, sites which will tell you, yeah we care.... but end up in empty space. My first gameplay was like 1999 MMORPG for poor people. Controls are fucked up, open world my ass. WANT MY MONEY BACK RIGHT NOW.
