PRO: - Gameplay is great. Turn based combat system is basically the same of Divinity 2: Original Sin, nut adapted for D&D. - The game is enormous CONS (highly subjective I guess): - I didn't enjoy the cap level, cause... why? - I didn't particularly enjoy the story . They messed with the lore in a way that is pretty bad (don't know if this come from WotC or Larian). - Everybody is kinda obnoxious. The companions are mostly psychotic but you're supposed to believe most of them are good people and some of their personalities really don't match their history (see Karlach). Also, they should all be sort of epic level characters, yet somehow they find themselves with you with some lame explanation.
This must be the worst RPG I ever played, and I kinda played them all. There's nothing to save this one. The story is boring and unoriginal. Just sort of a surface level trace, an excuse to keep all togheter. Characters (the main one, but also any companion) are flat cliches with nothing interesting about them. Sometimes quite incoherent (like the necromancer who's also kind of a joker, but unfunny), but they're so poorly characterised that even saying that might be a stretch. That said, if the gameplay was fun, one could get over these issues. But it's not. Quests can be completed without even reading anything (they're all just go there, kill everything, come back). Fights present absolutely no challenge. They are easily won, without the need of strategy, items (potions, scrolls etc), or even using and fully understanding your characters skills. Leveling could be done at random cause it makes absolutely no difference, which makes re-playing the game unappealing. The crafting system seemed interesting in the beginning, but the novelty effect ends quite quickly considering that you're not gonna need anything you craft. Money also it's not an issue. I went through the game refusing any compensation for quests (playing the generous type), I ended up with more money I could spend. And I mean it literally, cause there's nothing to buy. Items choice is quite poor, and, as I said, it's not like you're gonna need consumables. Horrible.
