Destroy All Humans!

I love this game, but...

I played this game on Xbox way back in the day. And I beat it. I love the sense of humor, the absolute silliness of the whole thing, and I feel they carried that over to this remake quite well. The game controls great, the humor is still intact, and if feels great to blow everything up. So why 2/5? The bugs. Especially toward the end of the game. I literally cannot beat the final level because the game keeps glitching out. Controls lock and send me flying in random directions (to my death). The framerate suddenly stutters and I cannot react fast enough to incoming attacks (I adjusted my settings, made no difference). That's not even mentioning a bunch of audio drops, graphical glitches, controller problems I had with this game. And it is not me. All my other games work just fine, with and without controllers. I love this game. So much. And I want to give it a good review. But I can't. This remake left me deeply disappointed by the end, to the point where I don't want to play it anymore. And I don't think I will be purchasing any of the other Destroy all Humans games if they get remade either. Because I love the second game even more than the first, and I don't want my memories ruined by game breaking bugs.

Anodyne 2: Return to Dust

Play for story, not gameplay

Gameplay is good. Not great, just good. It gets the job done. I personally love the graphics choice for this game, though I can see how others would not be a big fan of it. But this is not why it's getting 5 stars. It is getting 5 stars because it was such an amazing journey, with so many twists and extremely meta/WTF moments. Several points during my playthrough, I would shout at my screen "WHAT" at what I was seeing, what had just happened to the main character or NPC, and especially at the super spoiler moments that will not be mentioned here. This game for me was absolutely worth every penny. I've never played anything like it before, and with the way the game ended, I was very satisfied, left wondering what will happen next, and desperately hoping that question will be answered some day. If you get this game, get it for the crazy amazing story, and enjoy the ride.

Obduction ®

Trip back to my childhood

I obtained this game during one of GOG's giveaways, and after completing it, I feel a little bad for getting it for free. I have been playing Myst games since the first one originally came out, and I have missed this style of game so much. Started playing it, got sucked into its world, and my girlfriend sat down to see what I was playing, got sucked in, and we both spent the next ~6-8 hours playing this game, figuring out its secrets, and learning its lore. Absolutely loved it, and I will cherish those memories we made figuring out those puzzles. I loved it. There is unfortunately one significant flaw for me with this game. The ending. I will not spoil it, but I felt the ending was very disappointing and abrupt, as well as the final 20-30 minutes leading up to that ending. Not to mention that nightmare of a maze puzzle (AAAAH!) This is why I cannot give it higher than a 4/5. Despite that, I loved the journey my girlfriend and I took into this very strange and alien world, and despite the ending, we wanted to know more about this world, its people, and what happened after the credits rolled. I wouldn't trade that experience we shared for anything.
