Quake

Play this. It's great.

Quake is such a fun game. The game was famous for introducing the type of multiplayer deathmatches that are common in FPS games today. But, the single-player game is the highlight for me. It's old school action. Run from one end of the level to the other while killing anything that moves and collecting ammo, armor, and keys. I miss this type of game. Quake 2 was ok, but it was not a sequel to this game. Id capitalized on the popularity of Quake to sell its next game: a sci-fi shooter. Quake 1 has a better theme, and a direct sequel is LONG overdue.

Tomb Raider 1+2+3

Never topped

The Square Enix-produced TR games are fantastic actio-adventure games, but this original trilogy is something more. The grid-based graphics make Tomb Raider 1-2-3 into puzzle games as much as action games. You will stop, look around, and use logic and mathematics to figure out how to get from point a to point b. Lara can jump one square from a standstill, 1.5 from a running start, and 2 if she can hang from a ledge on the other side. This adds a whole different dimension to the way You play these original games. It's something I miss in today's TR games. Prepare for a challenge and for sense of adventure and discovery that you have not ever experienced if you have never played these games. bravo, GOG. thanks for a fantastic addition. Now let's get Final Fantasy VII on here.

Planescape: Torment

THE best reason to be a PC gamer!!

Sure, the Final Fantasy series is great. Phantasy Star was awesome. But Bioware's infinity engine games are still the greatest RPG's ever madem and Planescape Torment is the best of them. It's the pinnacle of storytelling in a game. The universe is so flushed out that it still reveals new complexities every time I play it. This is a game that has always been on my hard drive, and I wonder if there will ever be a time when I don't want it there. For 9.99, this is the greatest bargain in video gaming, and you will be rewarded with the most compelling gaming experience ever for your money. I bought it from GOG for a couple of reasons. First, the thought of never having to swap disks to play the game is a dream come true. And second, GOG needs to be rewarded for offering the game. Keep them coming. I would love Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate 2 too.

Freespace 2

6 bucks!

This is why GOG.com is going to be the greatest thing to ever happen to PC gaming. I have seen this game going for 100 bucks or more on ebay in the past. It's a fantastic game that everyone should play, but who wants to have to pay 100 bucks in order to play it? The space flight sim genre is all but dead. That's a shame. I think Freespace 2 is the pinnacle of the genre as far as gameplay goes. Wing Commander began to focus too much on storytelling and uninteractive movie sequences. Freespace 2 does away with all of that and instead, it gives you hours of tense combat. It's also very very pretty. Its visuals hold up very well for a 9 year old game. If the genre were still alive today, I wouldn't think any new games would look much better than Freespace 2.
