I'm only writing this becase GOG is prompting me to; everyone knows what a good game this is... and all the more amazing for being run and continually updated by one person. I'm a long time fan of farming-story type games like Harvest Moon as well as similar games that put a fantasy twist on it like Rune Factory. Stardew Valley takes the concept, improves the storytelling, and lowers the grind without removing the challenge.
I didn't initially believe what some folks had to say about this game, but on a whim I purchased it and it was worth three times what I spent. Truly a thoughtful story driven RPG with a unique, well thought out system where failure, while having consequences, just creates different opportunity for storytelling as much as success do. I also love the unique, fictional but based on the modern era, setting. I love fantasy RPGs but we need RPGs in more different settings. It's a shame the IP owners are such chuckleheads, as I would love to revisit the world. On the other hand, this is so one of a kind, lightning would not likely strike twice. Highly recommended.
