As with most reboots, this seems to be riding on the reputation of the original - without the Shadow Warrior branding, this would be an entirely forgettable game. It's not completely terrible: the levels look nice, it runs well (I managed 4k 60fps on a GTX 970), and the combat is servicable. I didn't find the upgrade systems very interesting, but at least they made sense and rewarded exploration. But it's boring. Most of the 'humour' is in terrible one-liners that aren't even jokes, or plays on the name 'Wang' which was worn fairly thin with the original. The enemy design is par for the course, with the usual 'charging enemy you have to shoot in the back' appearning frequently by the end of the game; it wasn't fun the first time, and it certainly wasn't fun the 100th. The level design is entirely linear, with a few offshoots for exploration, but there is no clear direction at any point. I relied entirely on looking for the highlighted door or button to press, because there's no other way to navigate the levels. Even then I had to resort to YouTube several times because I missed a button in a massive empty arena. Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known it would be this boring. I'll stick to the original.
