Door Kickers

Unadvertised Grind

The game is great, until you unlock the actual campaigns. If you let any character die in the campaing you will lose 1. that character's xp and 2. the actual portrait for the character. You keep you squad level, but you have to start of from square one releveling your new characters. And, if there was a particular portrait/name that you were attached to, too bad. If the character ever dies in the campaign mode the character just seems to be gone (there is no warning that this will happen until after the fact). I was having fun, until a costly experiment with the campaign mode killed my characters. I guess i can grind until they are maxed in the single missions, but that was starting to get old. It's a nifty idea that is marginally executed. It can't really decide if it is for a casual playstyle. The light instructions, simple mechanics, and drop in and play sytle seem to suggest casual. But, the unadvertised penalties for making mistakes are rather severe, which seems to indicate otherwise. If you want a game that is something to pick up and play casually, this is not the right game.
