As an avid board and video gamer I love the idea that this game represents. I just don't love the implementation. It has all the pretty shiny pieces and stacks of cards to be found in the typical ameritrash game. Each character is full of flavor and plays differently. Every turn you are presented with choices that feel meaningful, It is was the least bit interesting or engaging beyond the first turn it might have been really something special. There is just not enough interactivity. After several people in my group had experimented with the game, everyone decided to meet for a huge session. before long it developed into everyone taking 15-minute naps while we waited for our turns to arrive. The situation became even more depressing when we realized there was nothing to be gained by watching the other people take their turns. Finally, the webpage in the store does not list the need for gog galaxy nearly 2 full years later. While you can hotseat, online multiplayer required the client. So, it is not fully drm free. I would care more, but I am not playing this game anymore. If it was good, i'd want to always have the option of playing it after the servers and clients go cold. So I guess the fact that it is lackluster means that there will be less of an issue for anyone unable to play multiplayer years from now. Small victory?
