The game is overly punishing, which some people like, but I feel like my time is being wasted when I have to dash past 10 enemies and 5 screens to get to a boss that kills me in 2 or 3 hits. The overall look and feel of the game is great and there are many areas to explore, though doing so feels unrewarding as the best you get from optional bosses is some money you can't use because you already bought the few items that exist. The different crests are a fun idea but terribly executed. You get a new crest and think it's good, waste your upgrades on it and then it's actually far worse than the starting crest. It just doesn't live up to the predecessor for me. It also feels weak compared to other metroidvania that came out in the recent years. Sure it is harder than most of them, but difficulty doesn't make a game good. You will still enjoy it if you are a Hollow Knight fan, but others might not.
