Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Back when Bioware could write...

The last of the great fantasy RPGs, grim, dark, with adult themes, not only another product for teenagers and young-adults. Would have been a great franchise if they keep the tone, of course it was EA, so that's never going to happen. If you want to play a dark fantasy RPG with good writing, this is the one you want to play!

Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Imperial Edition Bundle

A mediocre copy

A DnD game with all the terrible mechanics of DnD (memorisation, too many things depending on sheer luck, the terrible saving throw-system), without the writing and direction of great crpgs like Pillars of Eternity, or Baldur's Gate. The kingdom-management is great in theory, but a confusing mess in practice. The questing and the Journal is all over the place, you go to a location multiple times, the Journal never says where a quest-location actually is. Terrible, terrible game-design, they need to learn how to design a Journal and questing so they actually help the players instead of confusing them more. It does worth £15, but not any more. If you like isometric crpgs, play Pillars of Eternity, or the second Torment game instead!

Forgotton Anne

Cute artstyle, terrible mechanics

Imagine if in a point&click game you could only do every puzzle a limited amount of time, after which you had to load back your auto-save. That's Forgotton Anne. The game looks very nice. That's pretty much all the positives I can say about it. This is obviously a 30 fps game, the animations are terribly slow, feels like I'm watching a slow motion recording. Literally. Virtual sync doesn't make a lick of a difference. But the mechanics, dear god! I have three chances to figure out a puzzle, after which I had to load my auto-save. And naturally I can only do that by exiting to the main menu. To be fair, not every puzzle is like that, but one is more than enough. Do not buy this game, just watch it on YouTube, it doesn't worth the mental suffering caused by the snail-paced animations and the clumsy mechanics! Finally a little tip for game-developers: if you build in platformer-mechanics into your game, make sure the frame-rate and frame-pacing is fine!

Tower of Time

What a great story

Very interesting story, reminds me of Planescape: Torment a lot! It is a bit rough around the edges, a few grammar errors here and there, also I'm not a fan of the Diablo-like item collecting mechanics, but the story, the way the characters reflect to some of their past actions, the dialogues... Great work devs, this is how you write an rpg! I probably won't replay it in the near future, but totally worth the £20 it is now (26/08/2020)! Very well done!

BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION

Fallout 2 as point&click adventure game

Oh my god this game sis so good! I funded it on Kickstarter, knew the guys from Stasis, so I knew they will deliver quality, and they certainly did! The game feels like if you would play Fallout 2 as a point&click adventure game! Great writing with sometimes surprising twists and turns, beautiful graphics and art-style! Totally worth to buy and play it!
