Kingsway

Fascinating, satisfying and retro

This game is kinda two things, a desktop simulator resembling going on the internet with Windows95 and a rogue-like RPG. The UI is made to feel like OS systems of the 90s, like your inventory which is an icon you can click on the desktop which then opens a window with your stuff in there as icons, the map screen is also an icon you can click which opens the game world map. It's fascinating how the whole game feels a bit like going messing around with an old OS. The game mechanics works well, it's bog standard RPG with stats, items and the likes, but again the OS UI pops in, avoiding an arrow from an enemy is a window that flies from one side of the screen to the other, where you have to click on a button saying avoid in the window while it is moving. It's very satisfying when you feel like your in control of all these mechanics. An interesting take on the Rogue-like adventure. The travelling part can be compared to that of FTL as each location you reach will give you access to other paths to other locations in the form of lines that are revealed once you arrive at your destination. It feels completely new and innovative while looking pixelated and dated, I like the retro feeling of it all. I've completed a playthrough but I'm going for another, maybe several. I've found some notes in the game which I'm trying to find out what excactly means, so I might keep playing until I figure it out.

Zombie Night Terror

Lemmings have returned from the grave!

This game is very similar to the classic game Lemmings, just with zombies, and is just as fun! It is well made with nice aesthetics. I have only played two hours by now but it does not look like I will stop playing for a while. There are main objectives to complete in each level but there are also special objectives that are really entertaining to go for.
