SWAT 4: Gold Edition

Copaganda But Fun So I Don't Feel Bad

Sadly, ACAB includes Reynolds.

Wartales

Updates roll out very slowly

Great game, appreciate the cross-platform coop with the steam release, but it's kind oif ruined by the fact that the developers roll out releases to the gog version much later than steam, with no communication on why. Not the platform to get this if you can.

Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers

Full Spectrum Warrior: The Good One

The original Full Spectrum Warrior was this neat little mix between a tactical shooter and a real time strategy game, that fell short because the levels were mostly designed like a puzzle game rather than a strategy or shooter. Ten Hammers fixes most of this by adding it a lot of player involvement, letting the player separate their squad, making different squadmates actually have different abilities, and generally polishing every detail of the gameplay to make it far more involving. So it's an improvement on that regard, mechanically alone this game is absolutely unique among shooters or strategy games. It's a shame the story is absolute garbage and none of the characters are likeable.

Long Live the Queen

Unpolished

The game plays great and has a really good visual aesthetic if you're into this kind of thing, but every other aspect of the presentation (namely, menus, fonts, music, and even animations or transitions) don't look great. for a 10 dollar game I would at least expect better fade effects between screens, it's all I'm saying. If this sounds like nitpicking, it is. The game really has nothing else going for it. That isn't to say it's bad, quite the opposite. It does one thing and it does that thing really well, and that is to be princess maker in visual novel form, which is to say, a heck of a lot more linear. But if you see the game not as an RPG but more of an overly elaborate Visual Novel, and if you like visual novels and this cute aesthetic, it's for you. tl;dr: Mind the lack of polish, and if you're not interested on what you see on the screenshots, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Dark Matter

(Literally) Unfinished

The game is admittedly pretty good while you get to play it, it's well designed and generally fun, but then the game abruptly ends with just a picture of a black screen with white text on. Credit where credit's due, that takes balls. Like, preposterous amounts of balls. Preposteballs. But as it stands this game is not worth 15 or 30 dollars. Go buy something that actually is finished.

Conflict: Desert Storm

Not the greatest, but worth your time

I should say upfront that the sequel to this game, Conflict: Global Storm (Or something like that, I haven't played it in ages so I could be wrong) is far superior to this one. That being said, this game is surprisingly good for what it is. It's a lightweight tactical shooter, think about it as a mix between modern cover based shooters and tactical shooters, which make the game kind of unfocused, but at the same time pretty unique. This ISN'T Rainbow Six, or Full Spectrum Warrior. What it IS is tremendously flawed and glitchy as hell, but fun and unique in its own right. So if you can tolerate some degree of racism and a mediocre presentation, the game is a lot better than you'd think. Give it a try if you want something more streamlined than the Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six games
