Throne of Darkness

Diablo for patient people

I remember playing this game and spending a lot of time AFK, waiting for my characters to heal, because healing potions were pretty expensive, and you use tons of them during battle. Having 7 characters means having 7 inventories, 7 skill trees, 7 attributes tables. I personally love this aspect of the game, but I'm sure a lot of you would hate it. The spells and formations are pretty useless, i mean, you can't expect early 2000's AI to utilise all of these complex abilities. Even if YOU are controlling the wizard, you'll have trouble using the right spells at the right time. Instead of towns with vendors and stuff, you have access to a blacksmith and a priest (I think) window. Wherever you are in the world, you just press a button and get to consult with your personal blacksmith, which is a bit weird, but I liked the idea. Instead of the usual 'click on the thing you want and it's transferred to you instantly', you have to wait for him to actually make the item. Depending on the quality, it may take up to 10 minutes. Feels like one of those modern mobile games, huh? It feels like I'm just making a list of all the flaws the game has, but these aren't really flaws in my opinion. It's all about what you prefer. If you want a quick-paced, no-b.s. hack-n-slash, then you shouldn't be looking at a game where you control more characters. I don't really understand the comparison to Diablo. Yes, they look similar, but playing them feels completely different. It's more of a 'Dungeon siege category' for me. Overall, this is a rather challenging game, which will test your endurance and patience, but that only makes the finish more rewarding. If you're a fan of the genre, you definately should pick it up. As for as I know this is the first time you can buy it digitally, and it's really worth the price.

Theme Hospital

Great for beginner managers

A 6 year-old could play this! Not what you're used to in this genre. You don't even need tutorial. It gets difficult step by step, it doesn't surprise you with an impossible level once the tutorial is over. A most addicting game. You're gonna feel really stupid when playing this. 1:00 am- why can't i find a good surgeon? 2:00am- omg, earthquake, my machines are broken! 2:30- AAAHH! Need more benches in the waiting room! Yep, it's pathetic. Spending nights with this childish looking oldie. But you know it's a good game, when you choose it over sleeping.

Hammerwatch

Every PC needs this game

Hammerwatch is bloody simple. It's the kind of game you'd like to keep installed. A good game to have around... Bored out of your mind? Hammerwatch- need to waste an hour? hammerwatch- need to keep a 6 year-old entertained? hammerwatch?- want to waste time with your 20 year old buddies? hammerwatch. Sure, it feels weird, spending $10 on a 117 MB game. But this one wont let you down.

Divinity 2: Developer's Cut

Not outstanding, but still good

You won't be singing songs about this game after you've finished it, it's not likely to become one of your favourites... But you're gonna spend countless hours with this game, having a wonderful time. There's nothing unique about this game... the creators didn't aim high. They didn't go for the awards, or toplists. They wanted a mediocore, but flawless game. And they wanted players to have loads of fun. 4 stars? yeah. Some 5-star games might give you 5-10 hours of unforgettable gameplay. This one won't blow your mind, but will keep you entertained for weeks.

Outcast 1.1

It's better than you'd think

A really revolutionary game, nothing like any games before its release. You might think that it's filled with bugs, being a pioneer among video games, but it isn't. It's a great open-world game, with a good story, a wonderful soundtrack, interesting characters and a good bunch of original ideas. I learned about this game a year ago, so i didn't play it when it was released. So when i say it's a favourite of mine, it has nothing to do with nostalgy.

Pid

Stupid things...

So much potential wasted... I really liked this one. Shooting orbs to disable gravity in certain areas? Awesome. Make your way through an army of simple robots, using this little trick. Kinda like portal. Though this one has a much friendlier style to it. Why 4 stars? Well, some annoying little things flaw the whole thing. First of all, it's not as replayable as it seems to be. People say it's a difficult game, but take my advice and start on normal level rightaway. The unskippable intro immediately ruins your second playthrough. Also, the beginning is way too easy, you basicalley just walk through the first half of the game. Well, it's fun at first, but when you go on to replay it on a more difficult level, you get pretty damn bored. So yeah, you won't spend many hours with Pid. The other annoying thing is the amount of items you get throughout the game. Yeah, you are forced to use these weapons once or twice in the game, but 95% of the time they're really unnecessary. But yeah, this game is still pretty damn good. Short, but good. You'll probably have no problem enjoying it, but once you try to replay it, you won't be able to enjoy it anymore. I spent about 5-10 hours with pid. Quality time, it was, but i kinda expected more...

Blackwell Bundle

Lovely, but short

Okay, the bundle isn't short. It was a good idea to collect all the episodes and create this bundle, because the single games would be ridiculously short. But let's talk about the gameplay. The soundtrack and the character of Joey really set the mood all episodes. They give the game a kick of the 1930s. It has everything you'd expect from a point-and-click game: good story, good characters, good puzzles. It will make you laugh a lot, and sometimes it'll make you want to cry. I absolutely recommend this game to the point-and-click adventure fans.

Unmechanical: Extended

A very interesting game

My poor laptop got overheated a couple of times, playing this game. But it only shows, that Unmechanical has surprisingly good graphics, and the phsics work perfectly. It's not a game of 4 hour gaming-sessions. Really casual, good to spend 30 minutes with it every day. Worth its price.

Torchlight

Nothing extra, really...

I don't think it should be called a successor of Diablo II. There is no problem with it really, but it offers no extras. It can be addicting at the start, but it gets monotonous after a while. For an indie game, it is very good... but hide the fact that it's an indie game for a while... what do we have left? A mediocore Diablo-wannabe.

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

A really good classic

I didn't play this one when it was released, i only got my hands on it a few months ago. Well, it is worth its price. But you better think twice before buying it. It does have a really moody atmosphere... a dark, depressing atmosphere. Sometimes it doesn't really match my mood, so it takes quite long for me to progress. Anyway, it is a great game, sometimes, you will be stuck in front of the screen for hours, other times you won't really like the ide of playing it.
