Shantae is a metroidvania-style platformer, with a default difficulty level that makes it accessible to all players. The levels are interesting to explore and the abilities make for some fun but not difficult platforming action. Recommended if you like this kind of platforms but don't want the challenge of the more hardcore titles.
SKALD does a lot of things right: the story flows pleasantly, giving you opportunities to choose your own path. It understands perfectly how the cosmic horror genre works, and slowly makes you feel entangled in a darker and darker spiral. The gameplay is smooth and pleasant. Obstacles you'll find have several ways of being overcome, exploration is genuinely rewarding and the combat system has strategic depth while still moving along quickly, and not bogging you down. One thing that I really appreciate is that the ruleset is custom, has enough depth to it but isn't overly complicated. Additionally, the way you develop your characer has a meaningful impact. Abilities and bonuses are significant, not just small increments here and there.
