Chants of Sennaar

Satisfying Puzzler

Been at it for 3 hours so far and for the first time in years, I didn't realize what time it is! It's very late! The puzzles aren't difficult and if you're one to love patterns and languages, this may be the game for you. Simple controls and logical decisions and very accessible. Only had to guess at some answers once, so far. I'll add to this review as I complete the game. I've completed only the first group's language (the Devotees), but I'm excited to get to the next group. Had to force myself to get to bed, so I'm happy to say this is a keeper.

Hitman: Codename 47

Couldn't get the functions to work!

Right out of the gate, the 'Perform Action' function was severely flawed. First, I couldn't get his clothes on, open the first door, or the 2nd door. Finally, I got to elelvator no problem, but couldn't press the elevator buttons! It's not my job to look up how a game should function... it should just work... I'll try again sometime in the future.

Psychonauts 2

A Worthy and Satisfying Sequel

I'm about 10 hours in and very happy with Raz' latest adventure. This sequel takes place some time after the ending of Psychonauts and introduces many new characters while fleshing out the history of familiar characters. Mechanics are almost the same as its predecessor, so getting into this game is very easy. The developers have fixed many of the game play bugs/ weaknesses from the first game. There are a large number of new story features including Bad Ideas and Mental Connections that make the game play more dynamic and expand on many psychological concept in a humorous way. At this point, I'm thoroughly enjoying the story and gameplay. My only criticism is that there is a LOT of story (cut scenes) that sometimes break up the play flow for me. It is possible to bypass these scenes, however, so it is not a big problem if you've done a playthrough already. It is also possible to configure what you want to see as regards cut-scenes. Overall, I'm having a great time with this title and I dare say it is going to be a gaming classic down the road.

Sovereign Syndicate

A Good Story, not for Action Oriented!

This game is a complex decision guided book. There is not much action to speak of, but with careful reading and decision-making, one can reach the story's climax in a variety of ways. The complexity comes in the form of character behavioral development. Your choices both develop your character and advance the story. I dare say there may be inumerable possible outcomes during each game chapter. I was disappointed in the use of items because I rarely, if ever, used any of the items I discovered and it's possible they may have changed certain outcomes in a variety of ways. I played this game over a long period of time, coming back to it simply because the story was compelling as were the characters and their behaviors. I will likely not play it again, however. Although it is infinitely re-playable, I don't expect that the story will change all that much. I recommend only for those who enjoy being part of an interesting story, but are not interested in action or combat.

Apotheon

A slow, but steady story!

So far, the story is the important part of this game.

Sundered®: Eldritch Edition

Entertaining, Rogue-like, haphazard

Procedurally generated dungeons appear the same with different colors. Creatures are similar. The levelling and skill improvement is advantageous. Enough to keep me busy for a while. Music is nothing to shout about.

The LEGO® Movie - Videogame

LEGOs are Always Fun

Same style and controls as all of the other Lego games. Just a fun romp through a fun movie, with the expected dialog and really cool secrets, powers, and settings.

Stardew Valley

Easygoing with lots of fun tasks!

Addictive if you're into slow churns and watching grass grow! No Joke! Farming, crafting, fishing, mining, building, decorating, fetch quests, friends, lovers... the whole shebang!

Cris Tales

Not my speed, but a cute adventure!

Seems average, but I've only played for 1/2 hour. I'll get back to in another time... maybe.

Blasphemous

Excellent, tough, platformer

Played a few times, which is not my typical style, but enjoyed the playthroughs and extra content. With practice, the game's story became easier to understand.
