Caesar™ IV

Good but not perfect

The dumb walker mechanics are gone though managing where your goods will be taken is still fiddly and intuitive. The building placement grid is also annoying as it's so easy to get something one small square off. I would expect better for something that came out today but for an old game it is still pretty fun and retains a lot of the old charm of the Caesars games.

Hatoful Boyfriend

underwhelming

I tried this game because I had heard a lot of chatter about it. The premise of dating pigeons and being a human girl who lives in a cave was bizarre and not really explained but otherwise it played like any lackluster game of this series. I assume that people saying it's deep or funny tried various playthroughs to see everything but I really can't be bothered to suffer through it a second time to see if there are any stories that aren't boring. If there's something good to be had it probably shouldn't all be buried under choices you are likely to miss.

Bad puzzles, bad humour

A lot of reviews on GOG are for those nostaglic for games they played when they were kids, so I assume that's what's going on here. There is a lot of humour which I find falls flat and bores me... once i discovered i can hit escape to skip to the next dialogue it was way less painful. There's some famous actors in this but they are not given anything good to work with. And since the puzzles don't seem very good there was really no reason to play the game.

Obduction ®

Very bad gameplay

Controls and graphics seem good. I started exploring and there seemed nothing to interact with. Got to the next scene and there are some buttons to push to get prerecorded messages, and eventually after wandering through a ton of deadends i found one button i could press to get a guy to talk to me. he asked me to turn on the power. went in some more deadends; nothing to interact with. loaded up a walk through. there is a hard to see path beside the guy that actually leads somewhere. back to 1000 deadends. sigh. i have no idea what needs to be done after what i read in the walkthrough and no goal to accomplish. the only way to progress in this game woudl be to step by step follow the walkthrough. it's also very easy to get lost since there are no landmarks or map. there is also no sensible story yet. so 0/10 on gameplay 0/10 on story, 8/10 graphics, 5/10 on controls (mostly because you just have move and press button as your controls)

The Longest Journey

So Boring

I stopped playing half way into chapter 2. It is just so boring with how slow you walk and the slow animations, plus talking to people seems like a waste of time because they have a ton to say about boring topics that don't seem to matter, The puzzles don't make much sense either. The game just felt like a slog.

To The Moon

Forgettable

I purchased this cheap on sale so not too disappointed. I also knew going into it that it was more a story game than a game mechanics game, and though the mechanics were pretty light they weren't annoying. For a story-driven game though I found the story really thin and uninteresting. There were one or two emotional moments in the story that were pretty good, but not enough to save it from being overall meh.
