Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Buggy one year after launch.

The Game: It is fun to play, classic Indy, fun story, But it is a very linear and static world. Close to none NPC interaction apart from stories. The world remains kind of empty. It does not capture me like classic point click indy, TombRider or Cyberpunk. I find quite a few interactions with NPCs old-school adventure like: There is a hand-reaching out-animation and then the item magically jumps inti the final spot. I find the controls extremely clumsy, I am constantly fiddling with the Journal and maps. Opening locked doors is 3 buttons... often I cant get out of a menu or journal while getting beaten up. Often I fall of a ledge while trying to climb down... The performance: There are so many things which are just sloppy and I spend much more time in forums to get it set up correctly than for any other game in the last years. I am not a big fan of wide apart checkpoints or checkpoints in general but at least make them safe. I had one checkpoint which was full of enemies in a small passage, and it took me several times to get out there before dying. I thought I lost the savegame. Doesnt work on ultra wides without black sides. Apparently its is possible to get it somewhat right, but to be fully supported you need a community mod which changes some internal settings. Like 1 year after launch they did not manage to get that natively into the game?? I cant enable HDR, works in every other game. And it crashed twice already, one time taking down the computer. I need to paly the game on Low settings as it will otherwise crash regularly on my 4070. Overall it feels a bit like a game in early access that they stopped working on right there; it feels unfinished. The longer I play the more I stumble over rough edges / bugs, stuff which is a bit annoying. Given that this game is 1 year old, and given the price tag I am quite disappointed. If it was half the price there would by more stars. This came could be so much more with not a lot more work put into it. But I recommend to buy the game it is fun. but wait for a bigger discount.

The Book of Unwritten Tales

Great Adventure

If you like a good fantasy point click adventure this is a great one. Same humour like Simon the Sourcerer, but more modern. Great story, funny humour. No more grind of finding pixel sized items on a large open world, but good chunking into smaller parts. Really most of the convienience features are there. Good enough graphics which aged well. Most animations can be skipped. You can highlight clickable items. Only being unable to pause during animations is annoying if you are a gamer parent. Puzzles are well designed, probably more on the easier side. There were only few annoying times where and action is weirdly blocked until a different action... and then you get stucj as you clicked on that damn thing 5 times already. This trilogy was kind of the finaly hurrah of the classic point click adventures

Gloomy Eyes

Nice game with flaws

Lovely athmosphere. But a bit short. Sometimes it feels just running around without aim, in larger levels. Annoyance is amplified as the controls are haggly and you get stuck somewhere of in the other figure all the time. For an story ambience driven game the ending fell a bit flat. All in all a fun game and worth buying on a discount... fully price, not so sure.

Too slow progression

I like the game, cute mellow game but the story is progressing a bit to slow, too long to wait for the animations, too long to hold that button. Made it half way through, and it is not so annoying yet to stop playing it. But defintely a game where you play 20 mins and then you have enough for the day. Edit: Also, as you will find out only at the end the story ends with a cliff hanger and the sequels were never produced. So this is something worth to note now that I can edit my reviews and lower the rating accordingly.

LUNA The Shadow Dust

Lovely game, too much grind

Nice Athmosphere, nice puzzles but it is soo slow. You clikc you wait for the animation to finish, you click again.. After you solved the puzzle, and you know what to do, it just takes soo long to moce on and do it. Its fine to do the same thing 5 times, but I dont want to wait and wait... While I really like the puzzle solving, I rarely play more than one level at a time

shapez

Could be nice

I love playing factorio and geeking out about building nice factories. This is really hitting that corner. But I find it easier to build factories in factorio despite having to run around and despite constantly running out of material. The controls are clunky and unintititve (perhaps as I am used to factorio and this is slightly different?!?! Who knows) At factorio a new world begin when you ahve drones which essentially enables you to copy paste. Now this game promises you to do happy bappy factory building but then they also only allow you to copy paste from level 13 or so... then you either need to wait long times or build the same thing 5 times... and that is exactly what I dont want at all when it comes down to happy bappy factory building. And so the game lots me on level 9 or so, never made it further. As it was on discount worth few euros for those 9 levels. So nothing to sneeze at this price. I wait until shapes2 comes out on gog also, and perhaps give it a try then. They might have fixed some of the issues with the first game...

Stellaris

Way to overpriced for what it is

Firstly, the loading time is absurdly long. There are a lot of forum articles about it suggesting this is a known problem of a very resource hungry game. Then you end up in a UI with the tiniest fontsize. Somebody made a mod for it to fix it, but ... This is a quite expensive game if you add a handful of the very many DLCs to the mix. On top when reading the other comments talking about multiplayer via paradox servers only and the likes. I was already on the edge of not-buying. At that price level I dont want to play around with 3-rd party mods to get the game running the first place. I asked for a refund. Shame, looked fun,

Return to Mysterious Island

no invert mouse

I played too many fps with intverted mouse to not get completely confused when playing this static first person game wihtout horizonal inversion

SteamWorld Build

Nice little game

Nice litte strategy game, I like the mix between some sort of minebuilding battle and city building. Its a nice way to bridge some sometimes boing wait for resouces. There is a story. I find the story quite weird towards the end.. the world is gonna explode, does the world know? But the the story is just a sideline anyway, So or so worth grabbing on a discount.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition

Too much of a jump and run

I really loved Abe's Exodus (finished it like 5 times including new and tasty) and never played Abe's Odysee. Main reason is that I am not a too big jump and run fan and tired of having to play through half of a level if I die just before the next savepoint; I love the quicksave option of Exodus. As with that I had a blast for the first 3 mins of the game.... looks really good. And with hitting the first savepoint I knew I will never finish the game let alone play more than 30 mins of it. I waited long until it finally was realeased outside of Epic. I was really hoping for more "puzzle like" Exodus style game. Sad Sad.
