I love almost everything I've experienced in the content of this game, but I'm sad to say it's completely ruined for me by a certain random event, called "something truly evil", which entirely disables the ability to save between mysteries (it's not a bug - the game actually explains why you can't save). I encountered this on my first serious run of the game, and for me it's a deal-breaker, as it means I can never casually fire up the game intending to play for just a little while. The experience is ruined by the ever-nagging possibility that this will interrupt my run. While I could force myself to keep playing in this situation and barrel through to the end, that is not fun and defeats the point of playing. I'm then left with the only option of just quitting the game and losing my progress, which is demoralizing. So after excitedly waiting years for this game's full release, buying it, and still truly wanting to play it, I have to decide to just not play. If this is ever rectified so I'm not prevented from saving my game, I will definitely return to the game and replace this review with the positive one that I want to leave.
