I don't know if it is due to a technical limitation or if it was a feature that had to be removed for it to function on more modern systems, but the multiplayer function has been omitted. Even if LAN games would not work, there is no reason to remove local multiplayer games, as they were always one of the most fun elements of this title even when playing alone. The maps, the tweaks, building your base, zombie mode, all of it is gone. Sure the campaign is still there, but I always really enjoyed being able to set up a match with no objectives other than to obliterate the other teams or to turn everyone into zombies by running them over with tanks. Admittedly, as with so many other titles in the GOG catalog, the cause for purchase is above all else nostalgia. To that end, this title has been unsatisfactory.
