To me this remake manages what I think it should be the purpose of any remake of an already great game, feeling as if you were actually (re)playing the original game, only with modernized controls and graphics. The puzzles are satisfying, combat is actually enjoyable, and ambient feels exactly as a Silent Hill should be (special mention to the soundtrack). The only negative aspect in my opinion is that the game has been built on UE5 which, even for the good looking graphics, makes the game requirements exageratedly high, and it also introduces some visual issues such as noise in the raytraced ilumination (deactivating raytracing is even worse, introducing far more noise, as I believe it simply changes to "software" raytracing/lumen). Not a fan of UE5. I would have prefered for the developer to have included an alternative non-raytraced ilumination and reflection method, but it is what it is. Other than the usual UE5 random stutter and the mentioned visual bugs with raytracing, the game does look good and manages to create the right atmosphere for this type of horror game. So I'm still recommending it strongly, as overall I believe it is a really great game.
I really like this game. Interesting story, resources' management in apocalyptic world, zombie-like enemies, big maps where you can move freely and amazing ambience. Very recommended. Still don't understand how could Sony never make a 2nd part for this game.
