A lot of room for improvement

I enjoyed playing the game for the gorgeous visuals, pleasant soundtrack and smooth platforming, but it could be so much better! First of all, the backstory is plain and lacks originality (main character with no memory, a plague, guardian spirits...) The game is short (it took me 8 hours and a half to finish it), which is a good thing, otherwise it would get a bit boring... probably because I was expecting a metroidvania ala Ori and the Blind Forest or Hollow Knight (2 of my favorite games), not a linear action platformer. A few monsters have an annoying pattern, but most of then are just waiting to be hacked to pieces (including the bosses) The dungeons/temples are linear (pick a direction, you will either find a locked door, or its key...), there are absolutely no puzzles The platforming parts are too easy... halfway through each dungeon you get a new skill that enables you to finish the dungeon and after two thirds of the game, no obstacle can stop you Most skills (dash, wall jump, double-jump, air dash...) are nothing new, and the one I don't mention makes fights even easier. In a nutshell, if you're looking for a short and pretty platformer with limited difficulty, gor for it, but if you're looking for a challenge, don't waste your time. That being said, Grimbart Tales is a promising studio, and I will keep a eye open for their next games.
