Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition

I knew I was going to like this game ...

... and then I didn't. First dislike: Movement is horrible. This is one of those click-and-lurch games. You click on the ground/the floor, and the character moves in the right direction quickly enough, but there is no pivot. No camera rotation. AT ALL. Grim Dawn and Torchlight did this better NINE years ago. Second dislike: The combat is clumsy. It's turn-based, but less responsive and with slower mechanics than if it were Zelda in 1986. This isn't how combat is supposed to be in 2018. Third dislike: The character creation is horrible. You can change the faces, but you can't zoom in on them. The portraits don't look like the characters you've created at all. While the artwork is nice, the palette might as well have been 256-color. Maybe it was was; I don't know. The colors which were available were often so muted as to be indistinguishable. Fourth dislike(s): It's slow. Click on a menu item. Wait. Wait. Finally, there is a response. And when you click "Next" and nothing happens, what did you do wrong? Which mandatory field did you forget to highlight? First like: The voice acting is good. Second like: It's pretty. The shadows are truly shadow-like, and the hues are gorgeous. Panning is smooth. Third like: The story is comfortable. It feels familiar, but in a good way. Almost cozy. If you've ever played a tabletop RPG before, the world the designers created feels like a second home.
