I really wanted to love this game, but I'm having a really hard time finding the motivation to finish it. It's a pretty long game (+10 hours), but the gameplay is far too limited to sustain such a lenghty adventure. I guess it nails the Gameboy aspect here, but lots of games back then had far more interesting gameplay. There's a lack of polish as well, from floaty jumps, enemies appearing at the last second resulting in hits, a pitch black area that's a pain to navigate... One of the main mechanics (if you can even call it that) is switching hats, which change the default attack. Only problem is you're not actually switching between your 2 hats, you drop them. And they drop both at once at the same spot, only a few pixels apart. So you have to regrab them to FINALLY switch. Super annoying. And to make things worse, most hats aren't really useful compared to the basic ink shooting attack. It's a shame, because the writing is pretty good, characters are cute and the graphics are great, but the game is clearly lacking variety in the gameplay and level design.
