Amazing Rhythm-FPS-Rogue-like

I love this game. My only complaint is that there aren't more stages. I'm a sucker for metal, and shooting baddies to the beat of brutal, headbanging metal is just a great experience. The soundtrack is amazing, every song is very well composed. The performance on the guitar is amazing. The game is as much about the gameplay as it is about the music. If you're not into metal, you probably won't like the music and therefore you won't like the game. And about the complaints that the music is all the same, it's really not, you just need to have an ear for metal. Also, it's like an album, and if you've ever listened to any album by a single artist, the songs usually use similar keys, instruments, tunings, and composition styles. Normally, if an album has songs that sound very different from each other, it's because they were composed by different people. The soundtrack was composed and performed by the same 2 people. Difficulty: I would say that, this is probably one of the most forgiving rogue-likes I've ever played. Sure, I struggled when I first played on Easy mode, but eventually you get used to the gameplay and shooting+dodgeing becomes pretty easy to manage. Even Hard mode is not that much more difficult, there are more rooms, more enemies, and the AI seems to be smarter, but they have the same HP as in Easy. As long as you can dodge and shoot, it's easy. There are no I-frames from taking damage as far as I can tell. RNG: The game uses a luck mechanic, so you can influence drops by increasing your luck stat. It may not be necessary though, as there are only so many items in the game, you will quickly learn what's good and what isn't. Enemies attacks don't seem to be beholden to RNG either. Wepons: So, I won't spoil what weapons are in the game, but just expect Doom-like weapons. There isn't a very large selection to choose from, so I recommend experimenting early on and trying out different weapons rather than just B-lining to the final stage.

Terraria

Contender for Best Game of Last Decade

I bought Terraria in 2013 for $2 on Steam when a couple of my friends invited me for a night of online fun. I subsequently poured nearly 400 hours into the game on version 1.2.4. While I did miss the drop of 1.3 in 2015, 5 years later, I had the time to come back for 1.4. I have since poured in an additional 400 hours into the game, and the newest update has added, perhaps the most replayability to the game of all the content updates in the past. If it sounds like the devs love the game, it's because they do. You will find no shortage of positive reviews for Terraria across the web. So I want to simply highlight the best points in other reviews. + Unrivaled sense of progression + No hand-holding + Expansive crafting trees + Exhilerating combat + BOSSES BOSSES BOSSES! + Gore + Amazing soundtrack + Official mod support via tModLoader If you haven't played Terraria yet, you will not regret playing it. Terraria has something for everyone, including those who are looking for a creative sandbox experience. Update 1.4 added Journey mode, which gives you control over the gameplay, such as a difficulty slider, GOD MODE, item duplication, and more. One last thing. I highly recommend trying out a new feature in 1.4: secret world seeds! There are, as of writing this review, 3 secret world seeds you can play by specifying in when generating the world. I will not spoil anything in this review, if you want to play them, look them up.
