Great story. Love stories and experiances that are authentic to history and this gets a lot right I feel. I can also play with my Thrustmaster Stearing wheel wich is fun and the kids love driving around the city. I also like that the swearing is minimal in this particular game (unlike Mafia 2 and Mafia 3).
Overall the game was fun. I liked the gameplay and stratagy changing in the game. In the beginning you play the game trying to avoid rats and this changes to using them for your good as you move though the game. I love historically accurate games; this game is not one of them. The story is totally made up and you would learn nothing about the real story of the plague in this game. The language at the first part was not bad, but as you progress they start to use the F-word and several other words that I would not want in my home. That was the saddest part of this game for me. One thing that I am not a big fan of is how you die. When you die and it respons you at the last checkpoint. I much rather have it be a little more like SOMA where it gives you a higher chance to run away and hide to continue in the game, and if it kills you it backs you up futher in the game and points are lost, making it a better score/more items if you don't die. Overall the game was fun and I enjoyed the story overall--especially the ending. I loved the relationships they had and the more complex feelings of Hugo and Amecia.
I liked this story, but much less than Mafia 1. It does have good dialog, but you are not attached to Veto as much as Tommy in the Original. The language in Mafia 2 is awful as the F word is used in probably every section of the game. I would give it five stars if I could simply swap out the audio of the game with something else---and replace the playboy images with something not so crass. It isn't full porno, but I don't like the nudity. I wish they would have just had the pinups which I like a lot as all of the collectibles.
This game has lots of great dialog. You become attached to Tommy and how he gets involved with the Mafia; he wants out, but is stuck in it and it just gets worse and worse. There is some bad language, but it isn't too bad like Mafia 2 which has horrific language. I especially like the ending and how it plays into Mafia 2. The actions and keys in this game are very good. I like how cars move and I really like how the cops react to you speeding or running red lights, unlike Mafia 2 which (Mafia 2 you almost always just outrun the cops and never stop for them regardless of where you are at in the game). They have a good balance of "should I run for it, or should I just take the ticket" feelings.
