A light city builder with 2 game modes: sandbox, to build whatever wherever, and Highscore, whicl asks you to place buildings strategically to maximize score. Both modes are very fun, easy to understand and hard to master. Sandbox islands can be saved and there is a decent photo mode. It was all very relaxing, as I love the building aspect of city builders more than the economics.
It was a really enjoyable experience. The story was pretty basic, but wonderfully delivered by engaging characters. The game likes to make fun of itself and make fun of its flaws (ex:the whole death and revive mechanic). Some would call it meta, but most would call it funny. Despite some tongue in cheek comments and references, the delivery and tone stick to the games of old. The level design and soundtrack really shine! Unlike newer games, there are few collectibles and no cosmetic stuff. Just the game. The story mandates that you revisit the levels for reasons but it does not get repetitive, because once you get the time travel mechanic, the levels literally change and you have to adapt using the new toosl you have and time travel mechanic. There will also be multiple areas of entry and exit in the level. The soundtrack changes with the era (8 bit and 16 bit) and the music sounds amazing in both. I'm considering buying the OST. The only thing I could complain about was the conflict between the glide and jump button when you get hit, because sometimes you want to glide instead of double jump, but you have to waste your second jump to glide again... 2 of the power seal sections were hard, but those are optional. Two of the bosses were also hard, but not too hard. Just right.
