Totally immersive. An action RPG with satisfying combat, an intricate, mid-sized open world map that is fun to explore, and so many clever stories tied to locations and characters. A grim world trying to build back after armageddon. Nice blend of horror with dry humor. Hats off to Bathesda for the game engine and Obsidian for the incredible story-telling. Give it a try.
Strongly recommended for fans of Gothic 2. Kudos to this development team. They kept everything good about Gothic 2, tweaked some of the game play mechanics for the better, and extended the crafting systems. The open world map of Archolos is superb, a joy to explore. Best of all, the story telling is taken up to a higher level with a very personal and compelling plot, more and better dialog and and a couple dozen fully developed NPCs, all unfolding using the same 6 chapter formula of Gothic 2. I've played a lot of medievel fantasy RPG's and this took a place in my top five.
