Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus - Omnissiah Edition

Ave Deus Mechanicus.

By the Omnissiah! The soundtrack alone is enough to recommend you experience this game to achieve enlightenment. The devs did their homework with A+ (even S). How many 40K games can you list that make Tech-priests speak in Lingua-technis? I unironically converted to the Cult Mechanicum by the end of the game and hope we get an AdMech TES-like RPG one day, so I can proceed with the holy quest of discovering more STCs and cleansing hereteks of their sin of existence. Also, watch MandaloreGaming's intro animation. It is beautiful.

Wasteland 3

Alpha tester's comment.

Yet another backer & teser here. Some people would start complaining about console-inspired changes, no matter what. The game is slightly different compared to Wasteland 2, but it's a good thing imao. I genuinely enjoyed the dev. direction the game took and explained everything in the tester's feedback. Some elements are streamlined, but as long as the story is fun, core mechanics are faithful to the series, I consider those minor changes a quality of life improvement. Wasteland 3 is a very good example of compromise between reaching a wider audience and keeping the game's legacy authentic done right. P.S. Scotchmo's Wasteland's Dogmeat ^^

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition

Abyssus abyssum invocat

It’s more of a short essay rather than a proper review… Planescape Torment (and subsequently Arcanum) just gave me PTSD. I just can’t take any other RPG game as seriously after experiencing these two masterpieces. I admire and value VTMB, Fallout, KOTORs and many other wonderful works of art, but, in my opinion, experiencing Planescape is the ultimate existential challenge on a metaphysical level. The most surprising part about this game: I’ve repeatedly dreamed of some similar characters in my slumber for years, before even discovering this game. That alone speaks volumes, meaning that the game designers and writers touched on some primordial psychological archetypes that exist in man’s unconscious and can be traced to the first primitive written proverbs and teachings. What can change the nature of a man? Each person *knows* the extent of their own wisdom. Hope The only answer I would’ve given a thousand times. As long as hope exists, forever can’t win.

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Deluxe Edition

In memory of Nimh, RIP brave little guy.

After having witnessed the sheer brilliance of the final scene, when the credits rolled, and the cries of the dead world, names and memories merged in unity, I shed a lonely manly tear and felt compelled/obliged/inspired to compose a tribute-review. Pros I haven’t had a single bug in my 73 hours of playthrough, which is a satisfying result. The visuals, the sound effects and music mix up well enough, contributing to the image of a doomed yet thriving world. Creating your party and leveling up various useful skills brings joy and comfort, knowing that your squad will survive another encounter and maybe – just maybe – do everything the way you intend to. Most characters are unique and memorable. Some stories deserve their own novel adaptations. It’s a good old game. A holistic, self-sufficient stand-alone product that respects its consumer. Its story is complete and requires no additional DLC augmentations the same way the desert rangers require no artificial enhancements to fight and vanquish their sworn enemy. Cons Whilst the first part of the game starts at slow pace and some quests linger on a bit, assuming, that the player should take their time to learn and master the basic mechanics, the second half takes off smoothly, and dashes through the skies like a battle helicopter loaded with the elite ranger squad. Don’t expect it to be a Fallout follow-up or imitation of any sort. I have witnessed some players complaining about this fallacy on a regular basis. It is a wonderful sequel to the first game, true to its source and respectful towards the modern and veteran gamer alike. While it definitely lacks some polish (like some NPC portraits and models), it is a wonderful RPG that deserves even more praise.
