Just hearing that this was a traditional tower defense game rather than one where you control the creeps was enough to set off my warning bells. And rightly so as this feels like a cheap cash in. Gameplay is just your standard tower defense which is the opposite of what made this series different. While not great at least the previous games had some semblance of a story and lots of voice acting, where as this has barely any story or voice acting at all. Heck the ending (spoiler alert) is pretty much just a "You win!" screen and that's it. Overall it just feels halfhearted and cheap. Don't bother.

This a classic management sim with all the right mix of strategy, skill, and most importantly humor! The moment you meet VAL (your british bulter of an AI assistant) and Arona Daa (the reliable if overpriced merchant) you will know your in for an amazing game. If you love this kind of management sim with a twist of humor then you'll be glad you got this game!

Found this game in a bargin bin for a few bucks. When I opened it up and saw only the two discs in a cheap plastic case and no manual, I was very worried I had wasted my money. But once I started playing I found a genuinely good game. It's got the standard RTS collect resourses, build a base, and crank out units with the addition of some RPG elements. But where it breaks the RTS mold is making your soldiers your most valuable resource. Because it takes place millions of years in the past you don't have an unlimited supply of cannon fodder. You'll only have a handful of soldiers available and if they die they're gone for good. That means you need to actually have a strategy and know when to retreat when things go south. It's not the best or most polished game but if you're looking for a good RTS give Original War a try.
