TL;DR: fantastic ROLE playing game with character for days I've never played a game like this before; I've played it for a few hours so far, and even though there has been no combat or anything, have utterly enjoyed every second. The game is dialogue heavy, with a combination of excellent voice acting as well as a lot of additional text. The writing is funny, clever, intelligent and thoughtful, and is like a collaboration between Terry Pratchett and Kafka, with Hunter S. Thompson providing the drugs and themes. The game universe and characters in it feel real, and you can almost smell the old booze, sweat, stale cigarettes and despair as you slink around it. The art style and music really adds to this experience. Startup wise, it's similar to PS: Torment where you can create an archetype for your main character (either the defaults of thinker, empath, brute, or custom). There are many different options for solving different puzzles, and gives access to totally different dialogues, so suspect this is one where you can replay to enjoy the different story lines. Hard to tell, but don't think there is any big disadvantage for having one stat low and others high, so more of a question of which options have a higher chance of success. You can also find clothes that supplement specific skills, so looks like lots of options. Normally pretty critical, but genuinely can't think of anything I don't really like about the game. Probably not for everyone, but there are dozens of FPSs, strategy games, JRPGs etc, but no other game like this. Pros: -incredibly engaging writing and atmosphere -unique experience based on character stats, without having a disadvantage -great voice acting -can save at any time, so easy to jump into for 20 minutes -very stable on Win10 Cons -... if you jump into it for 20 minutes, will likely spend a few hours instead
Really fun expansion! They've adapted the world to add in Lemmy as a mythical character fighting the Fuhrer trying to take over the world with demons, bombers and other shenanigans. I think this was clearly a labour of love for the developers, as it's got a lot of small elements and details for the aethetics. They have enough of the Motorhead songs that it's not hugely repetitive, but it all fits in pretty good. Generally enjoy VV, and find it's something I can jump into for 30 mins and bash some demons to relax, and this was an unexpected DLC that works well and is a nice alternative to the normal world. Starting into the new setting is pretty seamless as well, you just select it from the main menu. Worth the money, I hadn't played VV in a while but this got me to dust it off and get back into it, and will keep coming back.
