I feel obliged to write a review about this game since it was the somewhat most inventive and original adventure I have seen in a long while! I loved it, and the special mood it was carrying... :) That being said it is far from being flawless. - The first chapter is annoyingly morbid story-wise. The German speaker exaggerates the sarcastic voicing! In fact this made me almost quit the game. - Some animations seem unfinished - The ending really sucks (all three choices) + The combination of sound/music/artwork/animation/story creates a very dense atmosphere which I believe I haven't had experienced every since I've played Monkey Island 1! + The plot is very surreal and weird - in a good way + I loved the puzzles and ideas. For some reason I did never feel bored when I couldn't find the solution immediately. Usually I am very impatient and look up walkthrough solutions very often, but not here. It felt always straight forward and there were maybe three or four occasions where I decided to cheat. + The setting of a mental home suits an adventure very well + Dialogues and puzzles were great, mostly + The game play felt linear, but the story was unpredictable, especially due to the way how Lilly surmounts the psychic traumas + The artwork is very beautiful + Some humour is really great, e.g. the role play scene I enjoyed it very much that's why I rate it 5 stars. BTW I played this with my 9yrs old daughter while censoring out the most terrible scenes from Chapter 1.
I've finished this game together with my 8yrs old daughter and we enjoyed it a lot! While many of the critical points which other reviews point out are true this has been probably our favorite game for a long time and kept us going on until we had finished it. We occasionally peeked at walk throughs since some riddles stroke as not exactly as very logical. On the other hand this does not usually keep us from enjoying a game. Just the box riddles were a real nuisance. This game seems stable. I was running this under Linux with Wine 3.0 and experienced like two freezes or so. Also the graphics requirements seem low - I had no troubles with my integrated Intel HD4400. Sound-Gfx-Music and overall artwork are outstanding (if you consider how old the game is and how low the requirements are) and lead to a beautiful atmosphere with a intriguing story. Can recommend for dark, cold, recreational winter days. Easter Egg: Once you have completed the game there is a message that additional features are enabled. I did not find anything except there is now a artwork gallery of concept arts available under extras... maybe that is what they mean ... :)
Hi, I haven't finished playing this game and can already say it is great! However, if you happen to play the Linux version, be aware of the following bug: http://steamcommunity.com/app/3830/discussions/0/864980734987336717/?l=german Please, GOG, show your greatness by fixing this in your Linux installers, the community will praise you for it :)
