I'm a huge fan of Dwarf Fortress and this is in many ways similar vibe - except no combat. Beautiful music to chill to, wonderful architecture of beaver society and brilliant mechanics lend this piece of art so much depth, and I haven't even touched the editor!
Don't trust it
Morrowind is simply the most progressive rpg I've ever played, detailed, complex, very rich and rewarding on every step. With possibility to shape your character in any way you like there are simply no limits. Might take time, but this game is for life. Step by step you live trough Morrowind and uncover it's story and secrets, fulfill quests and prophecies and with endless moding possibilities the fun is neverending. Speaking of mods, make sure to check https://openmw.org/en/ -you get plenty of bugfixes (like alchemy), improved performance and can run on LINUX and MAC!!
