I never played this game before and i can tell you one thing: good thing i dont have nostalgia goggles like so many people. This game is not bad by any means, but between the terrible price tag for an N64 port (its not a remaster, just a port with nice effects) and the even worse N64 era mechanics (stupid collect-a-ton coins, limited lives, checkpoints that dont save, a shit ton of auto-aim, etc.) i dont think it should be regarded as "one of the best FPS's of its time". BTW if you set your FOV to anything other than 40, you'll find that the weapon models lack the back part.
