This game is designed so well. It transitions well between exploration and turn based play. The travelling system for journeying across large swathes of territory operates well, and the local territory exploration feature converts seamlessly into turn based play when encountering aggressive mobs. Top tier work!!!!
Larian made a fantastic game, truly. I haven't had this much fun playing a D&D based computer RPG in ages. I miss my old gaming group and this game has filled that space well. The complete character customization is awesome. I find myself making new and different characters just to see what playing them is like. This game rekindled my love for D&D so much that I went out and bought 5th edition (2014) and now (2024) books to introduce my kids to the game and see them garner as much excitement and enjoyment from D&D as I did as a child. Now if I could only pull myself away from BG3 long enough to let them give it a try, but I'm still keeping this gem to myself a little longer. :)
