I haven't played Metal Gear Solid yet, but I've seen enough of it to realize Undetected is heavily inspired by it. It took me a while to get used to the controls and the camera angles, but I got the hang of it and really enjoyed what I've played of it so far. Not very story heavy, which is a good thing sometimes. I usually prefer less story and more gameplay. I had a good time. It's a fun game and definitely worth a playthrough.
I am really loving this game. It's so weird, and gross, and just plain fun. There are also extra challenges you can add when setting up the game to make the game as difficult as you want it to be. I appreciate these things being optional so the player can decide how much challenge they want to endure.
The graphics are nice, and gameplay wasn't bad. I didn't experience any bugs that I'm aware of, however, I've only played the first chapter. My one complaint is the hunger meter falls just a little too fast. By the time a piece of meat has finished cooking I've lost another chunk of health. Animals (food) don't respawn unless you die. I think the berries do respawn, or they seemed to, but don't really give much health or hunger relief. I felt like I wasn't able to explore or take any time to do anything other than rush to the next island. The timed mechanics could stand a little tuning. I did have fun, and I'm sure my character will either get stronger or get better weapons as I progress. I don't think it deserves such harsh reviews. I didn't find bugs, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Keybinding could be useful for some who need to customize their layout. It has a lot of potential, in my opinion. It would, however, benefit from some patching and polish.
I like the art style. As for the story, I don't know much about it. I've only played the game for three hours and will not be going back to finish it. Many games like this have a lot of RNG, this is totally normal for the genre. When your party encounters enemies the game takes control and situates each player, including your own party, in a seemingly pre-determined way. Immediately that puts me off. On one occasion, after repeating the same scenario eight times in a row, there was a slightly different starting position for one of my characters. Yes, I did have to redo a scenario eight times before I succeeded. This isn't my first time playing a game like this. I've played a few fairly difficult titles and I have never had to restart so many times for a single scenario. The situations, after the first couple of scenarios, are set up in such a way that getting through them is mostly reliant on luck with the RNG and not player skill. This makes it feel like an artificial difficulty. There is also a very different point-spending system for actions. Which is fine. Even though I didn't like it, I did adapt. Basically each action has a limited number of uses per turn, regardless of how many points you have to spend. I had no serious problems with it. If the fights were designed better I would have continued on to finish the game. Personally, I did not have fun with this game. I really wanted to love it.
It has the "stealth" tag in the description, which is why I purchased it. There is no way to stealth most of the missions. This is a third person shooter, period. If you want stealth, I would not recommend this title. If you enjoy being shot at by endless waves of Nazis, this is your game.
