I've been playing the remake for a few days now. I have to say, I'm really impressed by quite a lot of things: * Enemies don't magically know where you are * The textures in this game, while low-res, really give a nostalgic feel while looking good, like playing a high-res original system shock * They remembered the elevator muzak * Level loads are seamless - really, this impresses the heck out of me how well this was done compared to most modern games * Shodan is her expected egomaniacal self * The game files are small! This is so welcome in today's era of 50GB+ installs. Honestly, I have to say WELL DONE to Nightdive. This is how remakes should be done. I'd love to see their take on a Deus Ex remake. I'm running the game using Lutris (Proton 8.7) on Devuan Linux 'daedalus', on a Radeon 6700XT GPU and AMD 5600 CPU. No real issues found here. Haven't tried it on my Steam Deck but I anticipate no issues there either.

You know what this game is: it's the Universe, and you can flit about seeing weird life forms, meet aliens, and even blow stuff up. What's not to like? I'm pretty happy with this game. I'm not having the problems that others are seeing. There are some things I'd like to see done, but Hello Games is going to add features, so that's good enough for me.

I am astounded as how true-to-life this demo is to the original gameplay. It is the port of System Shock that we've all been waiting for. If you ever played the original, and cursed the awkward keymappings (we all did!), rejoice! The new control scheme feels very natural. Warm up your lead pipe, it's time to bash some Serv-Bots!

This is one of those fantastic games that never really caught on. The keyboard/mouse setup threw people, who were expecting standard first/third -person controls. Trust me, the key setup here is perfect, the game is a moody, spooky hackfest. There are traps, tricks, treasures, and terminations galore. There's really nothing like the feeling of whacking a badguy's hand off at the wrist, then lopping his head off into the bargain. Features realistic arrow combat, four classes of fighters, each with their own strengths, and a variety of bad guys all waiting to dismember, or be dismembered. A fantastic game.
