Mafia is an open world shooter set in a highly immersive 19th century Chicago, with a very good immersive storyline and brilliant soundtrack. World and story -- The main selling point of the game, the story is very well delivered and presents believable characters. The story is set in a highly atmospheric world.(5/5) Soundtrack -- Beautiful soundtrack that adds to the game immersion. Be sure to check the GOG forums in order to restore the original tracks, it will only take about 10 minutes.(5/5) Gameplay and controls -- The game consists mainly of driving and shooting segments. The car handling is far from perfect and the gunplay takes a while to get the hang of. Some missions can be quite difficult and will require some patience.(3/5) Bugs -- Occasional crashes, characters can sometimes get stuck in the environment and some mission triggers can get bugged. Played on Windows 10 x64.(3/5) Final score 4/5 A classic worth playing, if you get over the clunky controls the atmosphere will clearly be worth experiencing.
Advent Rising is a highly enjoyable third-person action game with remarcable gameplay elements and story. The soundtrack will definitely make an impression on you. Story --> Good sci-fi story even if a bit predictable at times. Nevertheless it's clear that the writers had thought of a whole original universe that they intended to continue to present in sequels of the game. It's sad that they didn't get that chance. 5/5 Gameplay --> The main selling point of the game, the first part half of the game will consist of dual-wielding gun battles where a similar feature to the Max Payne bullet time will be mainly used. In the second part of the game your character will receive powers that bring the Jedi force powers to mind, guns can still be used but your powers will clearly be the more fun choice. 5/5 Soundtrack --> Superb orchestral score in tune with pivotal story moments. 5/5 Controls --> Far from perfect controls, will require sensitivity tuning and a little getting used to. 3/5 Bugs --> Some rare crashes, some bugs resulting in the character getting stuck in the environment, played on Windows 10 X64. 4/5 Final score 4.25/5 A game clearly worth playing.
