I actually have the disc of this game and it is great, but THIS PORT??? HORRIBLY DEVELOPED and a waste of my money. The balancing has been greatly defiled and the game VERY SLOW and unbeatable. If you have no self-esteem... and you LOVE being punished, while slowly creeping along to infuriating grinding and grinding, wasting ALL of your precious real-time you will NEVER get back again, then by all means - BY ALL MEANS - if you are STUPID ENOUGH not to heed my warning, then buy this game, end up here with the same story, and don't say, "I didn't warn you". SHAME ON YOU, GOG for destroying my memories of a once-great game
Don't waste your money like I did. This game has a POOR tutorial and is extremely difficult. This is a quick money-grab. I hope I can get a refund, but I'm not optimistic, because I REALLY tried to give this game a chance, and fear I've spent too long playing to qualify. Buy this game if you: 1. Have no self-esteem and enjoy losing and constantly getting killed... 2. Enjoy wandering around aimlessly, trying to figure out what the game is trying to tell you to do. 3. Love hearing a bunch of LOUD, ambient and annoying cross-talk in a foreign language. 4. Get great pleasure from ALWAYS feeling as though you don't have enough inventory. 5. Find fun in shooting at targets that move, dodge and attack much faster than you. 6. Love always having to find food and ALWAYS feeding yourself. 7. Need to find a reason to become clinically depressed. If you meet the above (7) criteria, then by all means; BUY THIS GAME, AND HAVE FUN!!!
This port has been perverted by the devs. It is HORRIBLY UNBALANCED, even on the Easy setting. The "Unbalanced" gameplay happens towards the middle of the game, so I do not think I will be able to get a refund brcause I have so many hours playing. This is true for ALL versions, v1 - 6. ALL OF THEM IMPOSSIBLE towards the middle of each game. THIS IS ROBBERY - PLAIN AND SIMPLE BAIT AND SWITCH SHAME ON YOU, SPIDERWEB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The language translation is so poor, the dialogue is absolutely incoherent at times. This makes it impossible to complete quests... I am afraid to admit that the game is actually decent, but I fear that would mislead potential buyers ro believe it is worth buying; it is not. My older brother, RIP, was a linguist, speaking 12 languages fluently, with his specialty in Mandarin. I'm not sure if he would laugh or barf after reading this (and I use the term loosely) Dialogue. If you are monolingual, DO NOT BUY THIS TITLE!!! If you speak Mandarin or Cantonese, perhaps you could opt for one of those language versions. The devs simply used Google Translate and cheated us English-speaking gamers out of their money. Now, understand, GOG will refund me, but that does not negate the time I have put into a decent-playing game.
I fail to understand how developers can rayionalize their shoddy work and market such a heaping, steamy pile. Geez, I got this game for free and I STILL feel tipped off!!! I want the hours of life I wasted figuring this out. No noble purpose was realized coming to this conclusion, only that I wasted a part of my life I will never be able to recover...
I have NEVER played a game so poorly designed. Enemies shoot at you and hit, but you can't even see them. SERIOUSLY unbalanced and BROKEN. I have been a stout gamer since the PC AT and Commodore Vic 20 and 64. This is a serious scam. It gets your interest, then about 3 or so hours into the game it becomes impossible; enemies spawning out of nowhere just punishing the protagonist, death after death, after death... after death. I am seriously going to go to the Better Business Bureau if I can't get a refund on this sham. This is a greedy money grab, teasing the gamer until it becomes unplayable, long after the warranty expires. THIS IS B S

This is an improvement to the controls of Baldur's Gate game, but the story line is horrible and the game just is not fun. FAR over the top as an unbalanced game, even at the easiest level you die to the point of complete, utter and ultimate frustration. I won't play this game anymore, and I am SO SORRY I spent the money on it, even if it was only a few bucks on sale :( I have been a serious gamer for 25 years - one should not have to download cheats in order to beat a game.
The devs must have been passing around the crackpipe when they created this game. I have NEVER played a game with more futile navigation and combat tactics, and I have been a gamer since the mid-1980s, witnessing the evolution of gaming from choppy, pixelated, interpolated graphics and mundane story lines, to having compelling and complex plots, smooth, rich textures and intuitive combat and navigational options. I must stress; THIS GAME IS NOT ONE OF THESE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT *ANY* PRICE. The camera POV is absolutely absurd!!! It literally has a mind of its own, and will have you nauseated throughout the entire game. Not to mention, no matter HOW you buff and level up, the bosses are just too powerful and unbeatable. The game just punishes you 100% of the time, making you scramble for healing every turn of the game. Sadly, it has JUST ENOUGH intrigue that it hooked me for a long enough period of time, that I simply cannot ask for a refund, although I certainly deserve one, given all the time I've wasted on this title. I'm proud to say that I have a pretty solid self-esteem, but woe to the person with security issues - this game will push you over the edge. SHAME on the devs and SHAME on GOG for supporting them by releasing this product and promoting it to me via email like hucksters.
