Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy

100% not tomb raider

Whoever made those games never played the original. These games are bad in every aspect. The writing is abysmal. The story of each game feels very artificial and meaningless. Yeah the original game was off the rails too, but at least in a fun and exciting way. The bad guys in these games will put you to sleep. And the problem of main character blabbering too much and just nonsense is prime in this trilogy. The gameplay is trash. It's one of these absolutely braindead cover shooters. It's so bad it's crazy. It doesn't fit the series, it doesn't fit it's own game, it doesn't fit gaming itself. This is such talent free game design. It's like someone who never played a video game made this. Like some CEO who just got this job through connections... it's really bad for the industry. Who asked for QTEs? This sucks, not fun. And the visuals... why is everyone so ugly? It's disgusting and tastless. Everyone looks like a human wreck... nobody in the real world is this ugly. This is just design fail. I regret buying this for 11 euros. Don't buy this for more than 2 Euros. It's not worth more. It's not good, not fun, not meaningful, nothing new and not even good.

Laika: Aged Through Blood

Proven fun with new action

Laika is a fresh new game I have never played before. I love the classic motorcross flash games. They have been redone many times without new ideas so they never succeeded the originals. Laika not only succeeds in improving the formula, it's also something different from all the games I have. It's well made with beautiful attention to detail like dust being pulled up behind the bikes tire, the bullet shells smoking and blood splattering over the character when driving through it. The levels are also very well designed. They are hard because of this new mix of action and motor cross gameplay I haven't had before. But the checkpoints are very fair and the gameplay controls really well! So the game doesn't get boring and the first boss I met was quite fun and had a cool dark vibe. The story is very dark. First I thought it's like mad max, but it's darker. Gives the game character and an enjoyable atmosphere. So that's fine with me especially with the contrast of that extreme action gameplay. I could tell you about how the game plays, but I feel that would be spoilers. All the techniques flow really nicely into each other and feel really cool and fun to pull off. You can even turn the bikes direction left and right. And there is a way to see what angle your bike is rotated in the air in case you loose track because of the explosions on screen. Took me a while to figure that out, but I prefer that over a tutorial. I hate tutorials in games. A crack at the bottom of the thing that shows the angle as an indicator where the bottom is would be neat. When the thing turns red and the floor is tilted it's hard to see the dark smudge on the side to use as an indicator. This game also has some things I don't like: desert levels, dogs and killing birds. But it's just so good that can life with that and without a doubt can give it a max score. Anyway, highly recomment! Really cool new game made by professionals!

Beacon Pines

Grave tension, mystery and atmosphere

Cute on the outside, dark and sad on the inside. Really enjoyable game, kept me wanting to play it every time I had to stop. Honestly there isn't much gameplay but there is. Most of it is walking around and talking to people and finding things. And the little gameplay that there is proofs how much gameplay elevates story telling and immersion. So I'm really thankful this is in the game. This and the tight and twisted story make this enjoyable to someone who usually plays action games. The start is odd, when you don't know where it goes but after a short while it gets going. I rarely recomment games with low gameplay. But this one is unique, very enjoyable and tense. And the art is perfect.

Tiny Thor

Outstanding and clever

Tiny Thor game combines the good classic snes gameplay and graphics with modern computers. By that I mean enemy swarms are no problem to handle for the game creating new gameplay situations impossible in classic games. The game is tight! Not unfair like amiga games, but with amiga like effects like beatiful particles. Instead of endlessly long levels you really get well designed levels with really cool ideas. A really good mix of platforming and puzzle like action sequences and rooms that I haven't seen ever before in any other jump'n run and I played many. The music is the weakest part of the game. Some tracks are are good like flight of the bumble bees and I love classic mod/it tracks. But it could be better thought it is serviceable and not annoying. And the Sound is fine. The sprites and animation are perfect. Exactly what I want. Oh and I forgot the HP mechanic! It's also unique and really genius. Haven't seen it before. It's a bit like in classic sonic games just 100 times better. Whoever made this game knew what he/she was doing. This game is 100% professional and I love it! Highly recommend to people who played a lot of action jump in runs and are looking for some new ideas. Truly a feast for for the jump n run connoisseur!

Cloudpunk

mixed bag

First: This game is not for kids, adult audience. The only reason I was able to not quit the game and get through the rough beginning is thanks to my excellent stereo speakers. The city is visually nice and the sound of the things around you are enjoyable. If you have good stereo speakers with excellent range it is nice to immerse in the city. The driving is okay the walking is bare minimum but gets the job done with a few inivisible walls. The character models are on the brink of serviceable. The writing and voice acting has some serious(!!!) up and downs. This is even more exaggerated by the writing which also has some seeeeeeeerrriiiiooooooos up and downs. It's so bad at parts that it's genious! Because the one or the other character bites the dust. If all those annoying characters would be able to go down in dumb ways I would give the game 5 stars. Also some conversations can't be skipped which can get very painful. Some story ideas are good some are bad. Because the game is carried by two things: The City with it's visuals and audio effects and the writing the game gets 3 Stars. There are interesting items with vague meanings/functions if they have any. When getting close to the end of the game I was thinking how awesome this city would been for a syndicate/hitman like game. That's what's missing here. The game wants to be serious but puts you in shackles and sometimes tries to hit you with a hammer in the face with it's morals and ideas. The length is perfect, not too long, not too short. Get it if you wanna see a cool city with cool sound fx and some ridiculous stupid goofy 'serious' character design mixed with some nice characters in a mostly walking sim. 6,99€ is what I would pay in hindsight.

Song of Horror

Best horror game right now

So first the good things: best horror game i ever played, and i played many. It's tense and the tension always stays high because the game can be hard. The game is beautiful, the horrors do their job and the gameplay is awesome. The story is fun. It gets pretty dark but not too dark and with different characters each olay feels a bit different, thanks to their different opinions. I finished the game on hard without losing any characters, but that took a lot of tries. There was one event in the asylum that took me very many tries. The game honestly felt bugged. I think the reason for the event almost killing me instant was because my pc at that time couldnt run the game at 60fps. But i beat it anyways. I love this game. We really got blessed lately with really good horror games like this, tormented souls and others. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes horror games. This one is different but also really fun to play.

Skydrift Infinity

Actually good

I find it hard to find enjoyable plane games. The realistic design had me worried. But this game surprised me because it's made by people who knew what they were doing. This game is much better than the plane racing in Diddykong Racing. It's different and much more optimized. The flying physics, racetrack and weapon design are perfect. The game controls very solid and has many good ideas to make the game challenging and adding fair rubber banding. You can crash your plane by hitting walls or water but you can also scratch walls. So the collision is more complex than your usual flight sim. The planes also feel fragile enough to keep the tension. And the maps I played so far are well designed so you can fly rounds at high speed without crashing. Attacks by the enemies make this of course much more difficult. Music and sound is excellent too. My only critique would be the lack of pilots like for example in Jet Moto/Jet Rider or F-Zero GX. Would give the game a bit more world building, character and sexappeal. But still better than badly designed characters. And more than 4player splitscreen would be nice too. Like 6 or 8. In anyway this game is truly fun and very well made. A must have for this price for any gamer!

Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood

Calm and fun atmosphere and sexappeal

First the most important thing in a video game: the sexappeal is nice. The whole game really feels like an adventure you are going through, because of the good graphics, atmosphere and music and sound. There is a pre "game story" part with a lot of talking characters (text) I didn't care about and that got me worried. But then the real game starts and it's a mix between a point'n click (optimized for controller) and a puzzle game. I didn't write any of the puzzles down and did it all in the head. This keept the puzzles challenging. Is there fighting? Yes, but as far as I know you can't fight back. You can dodge and hide, which are different enemy types. The enemies are well designed so they don't get annoying and look really good. So you can lose all life and die which is nice change for a point'n click/puzzle game. I assume I played around 60-70% of a first playthrough so far. There are multiple endings. I can imagine what that is hinting to and I like the idea. The graphics are beautiful. Even the loading screen keeps you in the game. The art direction is really good and everything is very well composed. The sound and music are eeexcellent! The game is not too long. Is it too short? I don't think so, the length feels allright. But it is on the shorter end of the spectrum. The game does stutter sometimes a little bit and returning to the main menu (which I almost never do except to exit the game) takes veeeeeeeery long. But overall it is very well made, no bugs, everything is snappy and responsive and totally playable and fair and not too easy gameplaywise. If you have good speakers and a nice tv, this is an excellent couch game. The only thing that would improve the game for me is an 18+ rating aka even more fan service. But I love it. Would buy again a game with this art direction.

Hollow Knight

The most overhyped game I ever played

This game is not only disappointing, it's plain bad. The darksouls genre spawned a lot of bad games, and Hollow knight is a prime example. Any of the following things would be fine by itself if the rest wouldn't be abysmal aswell: - the controls are flimsy. There is a weird delay between attacks which seems random. I can't tell why I sometimes can attack quickly in a row and sometimes not. This is not only bad in fights but also when you climb spikes - enemies push you around, when you hit them and when they hit you - when you get hit the screen darkens and blurs and you don't hear anything anymore. It's like you get hit by a flash bang in counterstrike. After getting hit you usually will get hit more because you can't see projectiles and enemy attack stances - you start the game without a map, which is bad in a metroid like game. So if you don't completely suck and walk off the boring main path, you end up in hell. I played until I met a mini boss called broodling mawmew or something - everything looks black blue. Not only does it look extremely boring and uninteresting, everything looks the same and meaningless. Nothing in the world is in a location that makes sense including biomes and the world is too boring and samey looking to care to keep track of anything. This combined with no/a really bad map when you get it... - when you get the map it's still bad - in towns for some reason you can only walk, not run - most characters I met are more annoying than fun - when you die in a bad spot you will lose all your money - inconsistent frame rate, which can be partially fixed with the control settings, for whatever reason - because this is imitating dark souls, you will have to walk all the boring paths again when you die I bought into the hype... This game is not for me. There is nothing i can like here.
