Desperados III

Commandos is reborn again!

Some time back I took a chance on a new developer. Mimimi had made Shadow Tactics. It boasted Commandos style gameplay in an oriental setting. I was not disappointed! Shadow Tactics is a complete gem and if you even remotely liked Commandos, or just like tactical puzzly gameplay you should play it immediately. Since that success I kept a keen eye on Mimimi and eagerly anticipated their new game Desperados III. I never played the original Desperados games, not quite sure why. But with if Mimimi stayed on form this was a sure purchase. Sure enough, here I am playing a new wonderful game. It feels old. In a good way. It is a true GAME. No "modern bells and whistles". You dont have to collect feathers, you dont have to grind, you dont have to do anything but sit down and enjoy yourself. It sounds great, music and effects are on point. Especially the meny theme just made me want to bask in it. It plays great, and the showdown feature that they made in Shadow Tactics works just as well here, and its just as exilarating to use. Great game, worth every penny. Want actual games? Buy them! This is one!

Severance: Blade of Darkness

Best games never played

This is one of those games. That didnt create too much waves when it was released. In fact, after trying it, I threw it down in anger after an hour or so. A year or so after I was bored, and sat down and gave it another shot. And boy am I glad I did. This game really is a gem. It is completely without mercy, but also completely fair. If you fail, its YOUR fault...if you win...its all your own doing. Others have compared it to Dark Souls, and it is a fair comparison. But Blade is deeper in the fighting department. There are combos to master, more tricks and styles. But the feel is eerily similar. If you like the punishment of Dark Souls you owe it to yourself to try this gem.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Fantastic Game

The one flaw I can see about Witcher is that it was a bit hard to get into. In retrospect that is mostly because games nowadays are too stupid, and has made me too stupid. It took me 3 tries to get started for real, but when the ball started rolling there was no going back. The story is very good, and made perfect by the decisions and consequences you face afterwards. This is probably the main pull of the game. Other than that it has got a decent fighting system, a good crafting system for alchemy, the best mini-collectible game since the dawn of time (lady-conquest-cards I'm looking at you :D ) and just...too much to list. Do yourself a favor and buy this game. I will, for the second time in my life, on GoG. Thanks for a great game CD Project. You even made me preorder the sequel. I cant wait! :D
