Chains of Freedom

Good effort, but could be frustrating

I was really enjoying this game until the difficulty spike in the 2nd part. This made the game frustrating to me, and I'm almost ended up uninstalling it way before finishing (I did complete the game eventually). Some high level enemies seem to never miss, and the whole set up of the encounter seem to favor the "monsters' late in the game. So, depending on your tolerance for these questionable design choices it could be 2 star game or a 4 since there is plenty to like as well. The turn-based combat if diffculty is not taken into account is truly excellent. crafting options are easy to follow. Sound effects are superb as well. The story is OK, not bad. Dialogue is a hit or miss. This is an indie game, so no full motion video, and the characters will meh as they are not really introduced. Definitely not memorable. In terms of cmobat, one significant oversight, "human" opponents seem to run itno environmental hazards when getting from point A to B. This is good / bad exploit (again, in this game enemies overwhlem player with sheer numbers) .

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun

Some fun moments but overall meh.

It took me about 24 hours to beat the game since I was dying a lot (not a bad thing by itself) and getting lost for hours on some levels (OK, this is a deal breaker). Nostalgia driven, great license if you are into Warhammer 40K universe, a lot of fun fighting regular enemies, but major flaws to give it a recommendation. For starters, no map feels like an artificial way to pad the play time. It's no fun looking for a door with graphics like it's 1999. The main protagonist is definitely unremarkable, no Duke Nukem here. Difficulty spiked really hard towards the end of the game. Boss fights are boring since you are pretty much fending off neverending waves of enemies that simply overwhelm you.

Miasma Chronicles

Really good game. Turn-based done right

I had a blast with Miasma Chronicles. It's a turn-based squad strategy game with minor RPG elements. Nothing more, nothing else. More suited to PC controls rather than console. Not a AAA title, but I didn't have a problem with in-game graphics. They are good for this type of game. Of course, cinematics are not going to blow your mind away. Gameplay gets a 4.5 /5 for me. One really needs to manage, movement, shooting, special abilities, and inventory. Challenging, but not frustrating. Spent about 27 hours total on this game, got the max level and completed all the side quests. So, the length it's definitely a plus, and the game is not padded. Give this game a shot if you the genre, and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Deluxe Edition

Very frustrating...

Can't recommedn this game. Honestly, it's frustratingly tough on normal diifculty. Put about 5 hours in, and gave up. The game clearly favors AI opponents. There is just never enough ammo, health items to defeat the enemies. This is not a horror survival game, you can't run away and keep the stiry preogressing. It's better to replay original and the 2nd Fallout that drudge through this challenge.
