This could have easily been a 5 star rating, but unfortunately they've done many things wrong They re-inveneted the formula of its predecessors, the extremely enjoyable roaming through the city and beating up criminals, which feels extremely satisfying. Also the depiction, appearance and presentation of the Joker is very well done A very good idea was the implementation of the batmobile, but they did everything wrong what could have been done wrong, so after all it was a bad idea. It almost spoils the whole game The controls are annoying to the hilt, mainly you are driftig around totally out of control, running everything over what's in your way. Chases and pursuits of other cars are a pain in the buttocks. And there are a lot of them. Riddler raceways are among the worst parts of the game! They are tough as nails and you get mocked by the Riddler at each and every mistake you do while driving. I hate to mute the game, I almsot rage-quitted it. They are pointless, frustrating, not fun and no more than a chore. And there also tons of them The battles with the batmobile are also quite pointless After all, that damn thing destroys the whole game for me. Whenever I have to get into the car, the fun level drops to zero and the frustration begins Cut the Batmobile and you would probably have a kick-ass game. Better stick to the other Arkham series games instead, you're better off with those imho
I know it sounds ridiculous, but there's just one reason I bought this: They made it playable by implementing "normal" controls. Maybe it's overpriced, but please stop that wailing, won't you? Nobody actually forces you to buy it, right? I paid about 20 quids while it was discounted and that's OK in my opinion. The game is quite entertaining, nothing groundbreaking or special though. It feels a bit like Doom in Star Wars universe, while still maintaining to be an independent game on its own and not a rip-off. (bear in mind, it has a story and cut-scenes) Star Wars and Doom fans will love it. Star Wars fans will enjoy it a lot. FPS and/or Doom fans will still find a decent experience. To me personally it's closer to 3 than 4 stars in terms of gameplay. So why giving it 4? Because it was groundbreaking back then (I know that sounds cliché), has dense atmosphere, good storytelling, is made with passion and really has a "Star Wars feeling" which many Star Wars games unfortunately lack. Don't be a skinflint and and buy this, you won't regret, I promise!
Back in the days, when this was new, everybody was talking about it. The breathtaking graphics, the groundbreaking level-design, the hilarious gameplay and the innovative weapons. Praised by critics! As a shooter fan, I needed to play this! The graphics looked good back then, but were still crappy. Whenever I found a key (or got respawned), I asked myself: "Geez! What kind of abomination is that supposed to be? A mean caricature of a native american? Oh, it's just the character I'm playing...."Everything looked washed out and mushy. Crucial items weren't visible, the backpack for example. I found it by accident. And the distance fog didn't make it better. Indeed, that was due to technical limitations, but still, it simply didn't look good. The level-design was just confusing, nothing more. Something gave you the feeling, have you done everything you were supposed to do? Are you at the right place? Discovered everything yet? Can you finish the level? Are there still things to do? And sometimes: Please, let me finish that level (or at least reach the next checkpoint), I'm sick and tired of it and want to quit! The weapon design wasn't special at all. It was...well...weapons...I guess? An extremely annoving aspect was, that there were two kinds of ammo. The basic and the improved version. And you couldn't swap. Sometimes you had to waste the good ammo for weak enemies and eventually found yourself confronted with strong enemies, only with weak ammo left. Why? Despite many fps games are repetitive but still fun, this one is just repetitive and repetitive and repetitive Everything looks the same, all enemies behave the same, the soundtrack is an endless loop of whatever kind of music that's supposed to be and you have no idea what are doing Still want to try? Wait for a discount and dont pay any more than 2 bucks. It simply isn't worth it.
This is one of the games that really gave me the creeps. In a negative way. Let's start with the minor weaknesses: First of all, the story is extremely boring. This is American Pie, only with actual seks. Admit it: Why did you rewatch it? Because of Shannon, for sure. The gameplay feels like Plumbers don't wear ties. Indeed, this game is cult, but not because it is fun. Very soon the story get's so boring, you start clicking around through the dialogues, looking forward to see some "action" eventually. And it takes ages until you see some. And only if you gave the right answers to NPCs. How the hell should you know what to reply? Hence you need to spend some extra bucks for the official guide. At least some "milking" there, huh? Let's get to the real awkward part: The faces of 90% of the girls look disturbing and creepy as hell! They will etch into your brain and terrorize you in your worst nightmares! Also the "lewd scenes" just aren't good. The bodies and their "special parts" look crappy. You're better off to get some rl p**n instead. Another unsettling aspect is, despite all characters "being 18 years or older", they don't look like grown-ups, they look like being in their teens. THIS IS SICK, DUDE! THIS IS SO WRONG! Conclusion: Avoid by all means. If you really want it for the seks that badly, there sure other ways to see that scenes - for free. (Careful! Make 100% sure you do that in a legal way! Copyright violation is a serious crime! I don't mean to encourage anybody to engage themselves into illegal activity!)
Badass, fast-paced, nice-looking, violent...yet too fast, difficult, weird feeling game mechanics - AND - repetitive! Don't get me wrong, it's a nice game, but it's not very beginner-friendly. Despite tutorial hints, even the first level is extremely demanding. Admittedly, the reload system is quite merciful in case of failures, you don't have to repeat miles of progress. At first it feels very cool jumping around and performing impossible acrobatic stunts. Approaching enemies, reflecting projectiles and eventually slashing them into pieces with lots of blood splashing around feels extremely satisfying and rewarding. Almost immediately you feel invincible! After a couple of minutes you might ask yourself: "What's next? Is that all? Where's the variety?" The game looks great and is well done overall, but the developers didn't do anything but re-inventing the wheel...there's not much innovation here. (Maybe enjoyable in tiny 5-minutes-morsels, one per day?)
I guess this would be a very great game, if not for the more than aweful controls It looks cool and stuff, but imho unplayable. If there'd be a way to modify the controls (you can't change them!) it could be fun... May be a Joypad would make it enjoyable, but I won't buy one just to play a single game. It can't be that hard to implement an option to alter controls. Every game allows that...
Fallout 2 is one of the few unmatched games. An immersive RPG with dense atmosphere and a good share of black humour. The only thing you need is Patience. She disappeared a couple of years ago, at about the time when smartphones came on the market. If you find her, she will help you to enjoy one of the best games ever made! (or you are old enough and she never left you) There's only one thing bugging me at this version: It still is slightly censored. The blood is there, the children are here, so what might be missing? They changed some terms, f.e. the word "drug" had been changed to "chem" and "addiction" is substituted by "reliance" or "craving". That does not affect the gameplay though, just saying If you want the game 100% uncut you still need to get the US version or install some patches. But in my opnion really not worth the effort...
