The game itself is fun comic-book action but technically it's a freakin' mess. BUGS - Crashes randomly when trying to skip a cutscene - Crashes randomly at the end of a cutscene - Crashes repeatedly when clicking on the collectibles submenu under extras - Sometimes it boots into a black screen and you have to restart Searched high and low for fixes, but didn't find anything that worked. Playing with a mid-range system (Ryzen 3700x and RX 5600XT) and I'm sad and disappointed that a game made in 2014 is allowed to be sold in an unplayable condition.
The game itself is brilliant. Love the world, the premise, the design. All of it. CONTROL is really worth playing. BUT I'm really annoyed about my saves being corrupted at one point deep into the game, forcing me to start all over again. The game crashed, and suddenly key NPCs had disappeared and I couldn't progress any further. And when I say restart, I had to deactivate the cloud syncs and delete all the save files stored locally first. Because after I tried to start a new game without taking those steps, it would still remember items I'd already discovered and areas I'd unlocked, but wouldn't allow me to trigger events to acquire certain powers. It would even skip ahead to tell me I'd accomplished a mission just as I'd entered an area. So yeah, watch out for your saves being corrupted if your game crashes unexpectedly. My advice is to deactivate cloud sync and do local back-ups every now and then. It's a shame, because as I said, the game is AWESOME. I dunno, maybe the devs will try to patch it soon? I'll revise my review if they do.
