Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Huge levels

TLDR at bottom of review :) Wrong Number feels like it wasn't playtested properly before launch because of a few fairly obvious issues with the way the levels were built. There is an in-game level editor, and from what I can tell, most of them could be solved by adding a couple of invisible walls in a few places and just having smaller levels. Another problem I've faced often is distinguishing full cover from barriers you can shoot over. Often, I would have my sights lined up on an enemy, only to hit a wall and have enemies run straight for me. Another bug worth mentioning, just because it irritated me so much, is that if you get into the game and try to start moving early, you might move yourself behind a wall before the level fully loads. Nothing you can't fix by just walking back again, but it certainly breaks the flow of the game. Now, that all sounds pretty terrible, but this isn’t a bad game. If you've played the first Hotline Miami game (which you definitely should if you're thinking of buying this one), this is very similar, but with more drawn-out fights. Maybe that's for you, in which case most of the problems I've listed won't be too bad. But it was definitely a downgrade from the first one for me personally. TLDR: really fun game if you can look past it's problematic level design.
