Clive Barker's Undying

Clive Barker on stereoids.

What a wonderful game. Clive Barker's imagination runs wild as you are taken through a long campaign with all kinds of different strange creatures and worlds. It's a great shooter that deserved a sequel. It overstays it's welcome a tiny but but there's no reason to ding it for that. it's a wild ride and you'll certainly get your money's worth from the campaign.

Zafehouse: Diaries

An fresh surprise

This game is much like a roguelike in the way that there are randomly generated aspects that make it insanely difficult at times but it's also all the more endearing because of that. Zafehouse diaries is extremely intuitive and a different kind of survival game. Give it shot. There's a demo on their site!

Pathologic

Scary and unique

It's one of the most interesting games I have played but it doesn't come without some burden for the player to take on. Some of the dialogue is a bit hard to understand, it is definitely a foreign game. The difficulty is brutal and it can get to the point that you have to restart the whole game. The graphics are a bit bland, while the art style is beautiful on a lot of the characters and sets, the world for the most part is desolate. This adds to the atmosphere but it also can get a bit dry. It's a fantastic horror game though! It's scary, dirty and makes you feel sort of sick. I really enjoy it and still haven't been able to beat it all the way through. Give it a shot if you want a new horror game but be ready to wrestle with this game as you play through it

Syndicate Plus™

It's fun but clunky

I remember liking this a lot when I was growing up but it definitely is showing it's age. The pathfinding is terrible and the controls are a bit difficult at times. I still enjoy the game and it's well worth a shot but having some community mods or something to update the game would do it a lot of favors.

Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3

The original survival horror

There hasn't been a game quite like this in years, and it's a shame. Survival horror used to be about solving puzzles and actually surviving. The last two silent hill games have had you blocking attacks and combo smacking down demons. You won't find that in Alone in the Dark. The puzzles are challenging, the monsters are threatening, you struggle to survive with few weapons. It's fun, it's scary and it is a true SURVIVAL HORROR GAME! For the price you can't beat it. The original is the best but the others are well worth playing through too. The 3d graphics are a bit clunky and have shown their age but the artwork is nice and creates quite an eerie and inspired atmosphere. If you like survival horror then pick it up, you won't regret it.

Total Annihilation: Commander Pack

Large Scale RTS!

I have never played a lot of RTS games. I'm a big fan of Starcraft but this game ties it in my opinion. It's hard to pick my favorite but when it comes to straight up massive warfare then Total Annihilation takes the cake. There's a great epic soundtrack as well and it makes the game just feel as massive as it is. The 3D graphics are done in a way that doesn't seem to show it's aging. The game has so many units that there are just too many strategies and you can fight on land, air or in the water! It's a great, classic, RTS game and if you like the genre at all then there's no reason not to pick it up!

Master of Orion 1+2

MOO2 is blowing me away

I'd never played either of these games but decided to try one because I love star trek and civ a whole lot. Galactic Civ was fun and I love Alpha Centauri but this game is already proving to be the best and I'm only a few hours in. I love the way the galaxy looks, I love the way you run your colonies anyway you want but no decision feels like it doesn't matter. Everything you do has an impact and all of the game is laid out in a few simple menus! It's so easy to know what you are doing but knowing whether you are making the right decision is difficult and that's how a good 4x strategy game should be. I love this more than any Civ already and can't wait to get better at it.
