Darkest Dungeon®

Confusing is the new hard

While the core idea is sound, the game is very repetitive. It's a grind fest. The interface is unintuitive and clunky. I expected a game that was easy to learn and hard to master, the reality was opposite of that. Once you learn the ropes and avoid ill-balanced heroes and items it's a cakewalk (a very very long and grindy one). Many systems in the game seem to exist only to add confusion and busywork. RNG is very present, also in areas you wouldn't necessarily expected it, like in food usage during adventuring. It's another one of those games that are only fun when learning them and once you understand the game mechanics there's only one good strategy and lots of grind. Another serious issue with the game is trial and error. While it's a fine mechanic that I can enjoy in fast-paced platformer (or even in a roguelike), here the cost of trying is just too high. Going unprepared for something that you have no way of knowing how to prepare to will set you back hours of progress. Note: I haven't experienced the final dungeon, cause I'd have to grind for far too long. The way I've seen other people play the entire game is basically preparing for the final dungeon. You have no way of knowing what kinds of challenges you are supposed to prepare for.
