Heads Will Roll: Downfall

A good prequel/demo for HWR-Reforged

I liked it, a blend of RPG, Roguelike(lite) and webgames with a foundation in TBS. It is just like it's presented, as a free demo-prologue to Heads Will Roll Reforged, which is the main game. Be sure to save your game, or if you play on harder difficulties, take your time and be patient, as it will be a fun experience for a more matured gamer. Also the stories are wonderful. Thank you, to the developers and GOG! <3

DREDGE - Digital Deluxe

Superb, warm, inviting, mystery gem

Honestly, just got this game yesterday, thanks to GOG for the awareness to such precious indie games! Have played it for a bit, after looking it up online and deciding for myself to have this as a calming, soothing present. Atmosphere and grand open spaces, a world that teaches the player to take risks and enjoy fishing, also with a perilous, original twist, I would say. A mix between Jules Verne, Joseph Conrad and H.P. Lovecraft, for literature enthusiasts out there, also a well-paced adventure in the style of The Flame In The Flood and Don't Starve, with few dialogues, but with a grand story to tell, mostly by showing and leaving you to unravel the bits of stranded mythology and past voyages, gloomy, happy or tragic as they were. For me, to have played it for about 4-5 hours, speaks for itself, as I am now more of a gamer of specific titles, most of them old or retro games. In short: Play the game, it will enrich your spirit. It is never a hard experience, or a brain-melting action-packed ADHD combo-fingers-like-pianist shooter, or a Souls-like non-stop thrill, and I love it for being sincere! Thank you, Black Salt, thank you as always GOG, long live this platform and the great energy we, as consumers and community, find here!

The Flame in the Flood

A beautifully atmospheric gem of a game

Americana, country music, being on the Mississippi with Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, The Adventures of which every child should know about. If none of these sound familiar, even so, try this game! It is full of wonder and addiction to see how far you can go, the story and stories are beautiful, gameplay and art style unique to video games. I do not understand the hate or low reviews from our community. If you love it, write about it. If you do not, do not complain, you bought it on discount! I honestly think that the developers put their heart and soul into this tiny beauty, the music of Chuck Ragan is AMAZING, when the storms hit you, you are THERE, and the companions are deliciously funny and witty, made with LOVE! I played it for almost 6 months, very chill out, in the night time, Endless Mode and will return to the campaign, it gives you a state of wonder and dreamlike hope for your little Huck Finn character. Get it, explore, laugh, cry, be amazed and try to understand all the symbolism it hides, the allegories to our world, our day and age, it is a poetic sparkle of a game, a gem with which to take your time! <3

Spec Ops: The Line

Spectacular story - personal revelation

A game felt through its narrative, with good gameplay and strong characters, based on archetypes we met in books, movies, and mass-media throughout the twentieth century. I will not delve into an analysis, just say that I play video games for over 21 years, on multiple platforms, and that Spec Ops: The Line involved me and intrigued me from the first chapter. Play it, then play it again, and you will not regret it. Choose your way through a desolate Middle-Eastern city of former extreme wealth, famous worldwide for its vistas and artificial beauty hand-placed in the desert. You, the player, will have a journey into the heart of Dubai, and your choices will lead to a fascinating discovery on and about the human soul. Most of all, it will be a discussion about masculinity, violence, war, and redemption - in a unique game not to be glossed over! Do not miss it, as it is now part of the gaming culture of the 2010s.

Titan Quest Anniversary Edition

Not much, not fun, not for hardcore play

Firsthand, I have to say I grew up reading and dreaming about myths from Ancient Greece, and searching for books containing universal legends from the whole world. Secondly, I have played some hack and slash games (or Action RPGs) including Diablo2+LoD, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, The Gothic series (1,2 and 3), played DotA (the classic one, Warcraft 3 mod) for more than 10 years. Thirdly, I have a vast and long experience as a gamer, with different genres, and have a very patient play-style, even with weaker or generic video games. The Pluses: A nice atmospheric introduction and beginning of the game, good music, interesting graphics, typical fantasy enemies (and some original ones, part of the mythical world of some 2000-2500 years ago), "cute" builds, but not revolutionary, and some appreciated classes which you can mix. The Minuses: This game was a disappointment, as the pacing is very very slow and boring, the quests forgettable, the characters annoying with very cliche voices, distracting (in a bad way) items which are very much useless, a lot of time-wasting on teleportation back to town (a system which will make anyone very angry and annoyed) and a very easy play-through, which will leave you empty and furious to have wasted energy. Final Thoughts: It is an interesting game for younger players (12-18 years of age) to discover some lore about the world, fantasy traits and origins of mythological stories, but for a experienced gamer or a veteran, not at all recommended. I gave it 2 stars with generosity. To be avoided if you want a challenge!
