Quest for Glory 1-5

Clean, Cheap Fun

If you've ever been a fan of the old point and click RPG genre, you can't lose by picking this collection up. I began playing QFG when I was about nine or ten and up until I purchased this pack of games had never touched the others. The graphical styles vary wildly from game to game, but the core ideas and humor stay the same. If you're even the least bit skeptical about purchasing this, keep in mind that you get a small boatload of scans of the original material that was packaged with the games. The Heroes Correspondence Courses are hilarious by themselves, though the humor is a tad bit dated for this day and age. You can transfer your character from game to game, so you don't lose anything apart from an item or two. This collection's worth your time.

Pricey, but fun.

For an independently-made life/relationship simulation, this is actually pretty fun. Once you get the hang of what you're supposed to do during the course of the game, managing your time, resources and relationships gets to be somewhat involving. So, let's start with a few good points. The humor in the game is actually quite good, especially if you're a science fiction fan. The game's background music is really quite good and I haven't actually come across any real "bugs" in the game so far. The premise is fairly simple and it's easy to pick up and enjoy. However, player customization isn't incredibly elaborate or unique. Once you've played for a few hours and gotten halfway into the game, you might get that nagging feeling that you're just going through the motions to add more points to your score. If you play this game and start to feel that way before too long, just stick with it. Another issue I had with the game was the price. I have nothing against the developer making money--and I really have enjoyed the game--, but I don't think this is a $20 game. This is not a bad game by any means, either. I've chuckled aloud at the silly situations and parody that this game doles out. It's not the most padded or complex or varied game on the site, but if you can find it on sale(preferably under ten dollars American), do yourself a favor and get it.
